PS3 Refuses To Play Certain Games

my ps2 does the same thing but the real problem is the game:
1 check to see if it does that on certain games like rated T or M (some systems are able to block high rated games)
2 if thats not the case the beam reader needs to be fixed ( which is not easy) the reader is that little thing that moves back and forwards and scans the games data to play it, hopefully its just dusty which by being wiped by a wet cloth or paper towel make sure to dry it quickly and wait at least 2 or 3 minutes.
and i have a question for you: is it possible to down load demos onto a ps2? if so how? i havent played my ps2 in a while but i have started again.

The same thing hapeend to me with Infamous and Killzone 2. It wouldnt happen with MGS4. I replaced the optical lense and the harddrive on the ps3 and it did nothing. I even had a strong fan blowing air into it. Nothing worked. I took an L and sent it to Sony. But thankfully i got the money from gambling craps in Vegas so im not upset about it.

Try playing a Demo game, if you dont have any download it from playstation network. The point is just to force the sytem to play games and if you notice, movies and games are listed under a different folder in the icon's list, so playing a demo game will force the system to play the game and you should be able to play your games fine after that,. Thing is that a game's info might've got stuck in freeze mode when the system was shut off unproperly while a game disk was still inside, that's all. Good luck, dont wanna see any PS3 comrades suffering the unspeakable horridness of not been able to play games. Be strong my friend.

It's a Sony defect with the blu-ray lasers. They only last 1-3 years with average use. If your PS3 is less than a year old and you still have the original receipt Sony will repair the problem for free. Otherwise they're going to charge you $150 for the repair. You can reach them at: 1-800-345-SONY

Unless you have a technical background in electronics there's nothing I would suggest doing. A firmware update and or CD /DVD cleaner disk will do nothing for your problem. I've fixed more than 100 PS3's with this exact problem so I know exactly what I'm talking about.

How much free memory does your Ps3 have? Are the games used or scratched?

You need a certain amount of memory to play ps3 games. Scratched up games can't be read.

Did you put the disc on the right side? Lay the ps3 down and the ps3 game disc picture should be facing up.

go to ps menu (anytime with ps button)>Game>Game data utility>find and delete Motorstorm update, it worked perfectly with me

I had the same Motorstorm issue. Was it the Time Trial download by any chance? Unfortunately you'll have to delete the Motorstorm game data (you MAY be able to keep saved games, but I'm not certain) and then you'll find that that Motorstorm miraculously loads up again...
