I have windows 7 and a pretty stock sony vaio VPCEH12FXB laptop and for some reason my webcam wont work. whenever i try to open it or use oovoo it just tells me that my webcam is either not connected or in use by another program. any suggestions?

Your original Sony customised version of Windows included some dedicated webcam software plus webcam drivers. It is probable that you need both the software and the drivers from the Sony support website. The question is will the software work without you having a Sony customised version of Windows. you need to install the webcam software from the CD which provied with your sony vaio notebook or u can download it rom the sony vaio offical website ...

simply install virtual cam then you will able to use your cam

First verify if the Windows 7 Operating System is compatible with your computer model from the sony support page for your compauter. Check the list of compatible operating system and if the drivers are available.
If the Windows 7 Operating System installed is supported then, install the Sony Shared library, Sony Notebook Utilities and VAIO event Service Update if available.
This should resolve the issue.
However, if the issue persists and the Windows 7 Operating system is not supported by the computer, the only resort will be to perfom recovery and install the windows Vista Operating System that was shipped by the manufacturer.

You have to download the camera drivers so it will work with Windows 7.

There is two reasons of ur webcam not working

1. That web cam is not compatible with the laptop.

2. you might have not installed drivers properly .

also see drivers which u need is of vista or xp . install relevant drivers to run it properly.
this is the main problm with ur cam
