Family error code E40 is visible to customers and (could be E41,E42,E43,E44 and E45 only visible in service mode) means problem with open door or door interlock.
Press START/PAUSE and any one of the option buttons
simultaneously for at least two seconds: the LEDs first switch off,
and then display the flashing sequence corresponding to the
alarm condition.
Examples:
Alarm E43 (problems with the door safety interlock triac) will be displayed as follows:
ā¢ four flashes of the END OF CYCLE LED indicate the first digit E43;
ā¢ three flashes of the START/PAUSE LED indicate the second digit E43;
So, error code E55 as you specified does not exist. Any how, family error code 5 (first digit) means problem with motor. Error code could be E51,E52,E53 and E54.
Possible causes:
- faulty motor
- motor brushes (very often)
- faulty tachometer (integrated in the motor but is replaceable)
- faulty electronic (Motor power triac short-circuited or motor relay contacts sticking).
Based off the error code you were able to provide your Frigidaire washer is providing you're an "E43" error code and that means your control panel needs to be replaced. This is not a simple DIY job and I would highly recommend reaching out to an expert technician to ensure the replacement part is installed correctly to prevent future issues. I hope this information helps to some degree. -Matt
Your problem says dryer but the category says washer. I wrote this answer thinking the problem was washer. Sorry but I haven't had opportunity to fix my dryer before so can't help you there. If however your problem is the washer (or is anyone else is reading this), please read on... you should find some ideas here.
First you have to check the error code. If your washer does not have a digital display you have to do the following:
1. press any button to "wake up" the machine. 2. press and hold the start and pause buttons. 3. count the flashing lights. a) first the five lights plus the start light will flash. Count. b) then the start light will flash. Count. 4. error code is E +# of times in a + total # of flashes in a and b.
Example: flashes start light plus all five lights 4 times, then a pause, then start light alone 3 times. Error code is E47.
There are lots of error codes but E47 and E43 are both door problems. Check out the following document for a lengthy (but understandable) troubleshooting guide. E47 and E43 both say to do Test 9, which is test the resistance of the PTC. If it's not working then you have to replace the door latch assembly (about $80), if it reads around 1500 Ohms you have to replace the control board (about $250). http://manuals.frigidaire.com/prodinfo_pdf/Webster/134542000.pdf
First, let me say that I have no idea how to test the PTC but it can't be hard with a standard multimeter (I will be doing this tomorrow with my Dad).
On GE Washer Machines, E43 error code means "excessive brake time".
The brake and speed sensor will need to be checked. You can try
resetting the machine by disconnecting the power for 20-30 minutes. Keep in mind that your right model number is WPRB9220D0WW.
You can eliminate if it's the speed sensor by entering the service model. To do this: - Turn off the washer at the power pad - Remove power by unplugging the cord for 15 or more seconds - Plug back in and within 30 seconds simultaneously press and hold the POWER and START pads for 3 seconds - Should now display the model codes - There are a bunch of tests but we are interested in the spin fast portion, so press the custom 2 pad until the display shows SF ( Spin Fast ) - Hit START pad... it should start spinning and display the rpm's
If it does this the speed sensor is working and the problem is the brake which means the transmission has to be replaced. Parts replacement can be find in THIS LINK.
If you do not feel able to resolve it, we recommend you call the technician to do it. Now you know what the problem.
Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I'll appreciate
your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about
this answer.
Reset with 1) unplug 3 seconds, 2) hold Power & Start to display
"Jr", 3) cycle thru using the Custom 2 button (3 times) to display E43,
4) hold Power & Start to clear code to E00, 5) stop.
This is the beginning of a leaking seal in the gear box. Some units have a pan to catch the leak from getting to floor. Seal needs to be replaced, otherwise gearbox will fail (lot more $$$$)
