Since the Numark website only offers the Quick Start Owners Manual and it doesn't discuss any errors you might ask them directly 1) where the error codes and other problems are documented; 2) what "CD" in the LCD display means. Page 4 doesn't really help. Is it really an error?

Hi,

You may have dirty lens. You can clean it using CD lens cleaner or clean it manually.
If no joy, your optical lens may defective and need replacement.

Other possiblity cause is the mechanism is out of service.

When playing an ipod or laptop with my numark cd mix 1 is sounds distorted. What could be the problem. Both are plugged into the aux
I would start with the audio jack that you are using from the ipod/laptop to the numark it could be falty. Try also a couple of other audio players and see if you are getting the same results... the plug in on your numark my be faulty or dirty to where you are not getting a good connection to the machine. Hope this helps

The CD Mix-1 had a "tap" button for the BPM counter, but the CD Mix-2 doesn't have the BPM feature. They both use the same LCD screens, though, so while you can see the "BPM" on the screen, it is not a function that is included. Why Numark did this is beyond me. I had a CD Mix-1, and while primitive, the BPM 'tap" button worked just fine.

I would remove the back panel, and get access to the soldering of the connectors that are giving you trouble. resolder them, and see how you go. Get back to me here if this does not cure it and we shall get into it further
