I just installed a Sears Craftsman 1/2 HP Garage Door opener. As I was doing the adjustment to keep the door closed, it closed too tight. I disengaged and confirmed the door arm was set wrong so I fixed it. I tried to re-engage by running the opener but it just hums now :( - the Cable side is dangerously tight and the motor unit won't release the tension, and the chain is sagging on the other side of the chain spreader. Is there anyway to release the tension on the Motor unit manually? Or is there maybe another solution to my problem?

Use the emergency release handle to release the door. Run the opener to the open position until it stops. Close the door until it stops. Now re engage the the door.

Pull down on the manual release rope. It may be hard to pull.

Craftsman 1/3 hp garage door opener I bought a new one - my father installed it and the door will open half way - that is it.. then when you go to close it - it closes and then opens half way...

I hate to say this but it sounds like your father did not follow the instructions when he installed the opener. Try following these instructions.

Loosen the chain enough so that you can remove it from the sprocket above the motor unit. With the door closed run the motor until the sprocket turns clockwise and stops. With everything attached replace and tighten the chain. Some adjusting of the up and down limits will probably be required.

I just installed a sears craftsman 1/2 hp garage door opener. when i close the garage door with the remote the chain track bends up just about 12 inches before it closes all the way, and this only happens...

What is wrong is you need to adjust the limit on the door when it comes up. What it is doing is coming to far back on the track. You need to push the back limit forward away from the motor so the door does not come back and drop down on the inside of the garage. The opener is trying to push the door up hill to get it to close that is why you are getting the bend in the track.

Garage door opened, won't close

If you can press and hold the wall button and the door will go down, you have a photo eye issue. Check the photo eyes at the bottom of the door.

Door wont close all the way

NOT SURE WHAT UNIT YOU HAVE .
ALL OPENERS HAVE AN ADJUSTMENT TO TELL IT HOW FAR TO GO UP AND HOW FAR TO GO DOWN. LOOK ON THE SIDE OR UNDER A LIGHT COVER.IT HAS TO BE THERE SOMEWHERE
