Welcome to Fixya. I would like to know if this is happening on all headphone that you connect on the Archos 605? If this is happening on all headphones it only means one thing. This is a hardware issue that the port of the headset or headphone jack is static or grounded. It would be better for you to have it check and not plug in any headphones or headset because it can damage other internal part of the archos 605. You can check the warranty of the device so that you can send it to repair free of charge.
