Purchased model #ghw9150pw1 used, everything seemed correct, placed clothes in washer, closed door selected and so forth. Saw small amount of water go in, then it rotated one way then the other, then it beeped gave error FH, did all the troubleshoot suggestions. Washer now seems "stuck" in door locked mode and does nothing.

Hi

Error code FH appears when No water is detected entering machine or Pressure switch trip is not detected. If after 30 seconds the control does not detect water entering machine and then valves will be turned off and the error code will be displayed. Press PAUSE/CANCEL twice to clear the display. If there is no water entering the unit then make sure that the inlet valves are working fine. You may need to check the continuity at the inlet valves. If the valves are fine then check whether inlet water hoses as they might be plugged. Also check for inlet water screen at the valve. However, if the water is entering into the washer then the Drain pump might not be working. Also inspect the Pressure Switch hose whether it is in good condition and properly connected to Tub and Pressure switch. Also check hoses for leak and inspect the flow meter. Hope this helps...

Were there recalls on any of ghese models

The problem of residual water in front load washers is an on going problem. Some companies had put in a small drain hose in their units to alleviate the problem. Your washer is actually built by Whirlpool. There is no available auxiliary drain for these models. These are the suggested solutions to alleviate for your particular machine.

1. Leave the door open after wash completed. This will help to evaporate the residual water. If in an area where the door cannot be left fully open then place a towel over the top of the door to keep it from closing and that will help by keeping the door open a small amount.

2. To alleviate odor, pour one cup of bleach in the drum... DO NOT PUT ANY CLOTHES IN THE MACHINE! Put the washer through a wash cycle... some models had a clean cycle if your has this then use this cycle. Once this has completed remember to do a white load following this procedure to assure that if there is any bleach residual then it wont cause problems with colors.

3. Dry the door seal after each use... this will eliminate mold from developing on the door seal. If you see mold then use a bathroom cleanser for mold removal to clean the seal... DO NOT USE A SOLUTION OF VINEGAR... THIS COULD DRY OUT THE SEAL CAUSING IT TO CRACK THUS REQUIRING REPLACEMENT.

FYI: The Maytag Company went bankrupt sometime ago, the name Maytag wash purchased by Whirlpool and appears on products to secure the business of faithful Maytag users...

I purchased the Kenmore Elite washer approximately five years ago. I have had no problems with it operating. However, since purchasing this washer I have ruined almost everything white I owned and avoid...

There has been many reports of complaints regarding this problem and it was found out that the gray spots on white clothing are caused by the fabric softener. The Kenmore Elite is a "highly efficient" machine that it uses very minimal amount water when washing and rinsing. The minimal use of water results in the fabric softener not being diluted completely and eventually makes gray spots on white clothing. The ridiculous solution to this problem, as Sears "advised" is not using fabric softener for white clothing. But you may also try putting the fabric softener in a small plastic bowl just enough to hold it and place it inside the machine prior to the final rinse. Using only the suggested amount of detergent and avoiding the use of detergent powder with speckles reduces the possibility spot occurrences in your while clothing.

After the clothes have spun dry, a small amount of water accumlates in the tub; generally 1/4 inch or so. Why BTW, I'm not sure that I've selected the correct model. Our washer is about 3 years old.

If draining into laundry tub, chances are water is siphoned back into washer due to laundry tub slow drain.
Very long drain hoses( such as 10+ feet) will also cause this.

Intermittent water observed under machine

Difficult if not seen. Most common water on the floor senario is a drain pump leaking:or a perrished pipe from friction.or sometimes, water backs up from the house drainage system due to a restriction.

Too many clothes in the load , if it says 5lb then that is the maximum you should fill it with otherwise the clothes do not seperate as they are being agitated

Also

Not enough detergent (Try the old powder types)

Hard Water area (Use a small amount of Washing Soda)

LG Tromm Washer

Wash empry with detergent and double bleach with extra hot water. When cycle is complete open the door to the washer and let airdry. When you close the door with it wet it becomes a breeding ground for bacteria. You may also not be using the correct detergent or the correct amount of detergent.

KitchenAid Dishwasher Leaking from under Door

I had a similar problem with a KUDM25SHWH1 dishwasher. Rubber seal looked fine. I found an incredible tip on another fixi it site. One possible problem iss the pump cover screws may have worked loose and is squirting water directly on the door seal. Man that was it! I saw a couple of looses screws and a small portion of the pump cover gasket showing. I loosened the pump top, reset the gasket tightened it all down...no leaks! The pump I refer to is located directly below the spray arm inside the washer. Easy to get to. Another tip was to look for a split sspray arrm that may spray water directly into the door seal.
