The paper light is constantly blinking. The printer has paper and have pulled it apart and there is no paper jam. Press the button or lift the cover there is a click click and it goes back to blinking. Try to print to and it does nothting. When checking the status it states it is printing, then says it is out of paper. When I try to reset the paper light blinks, then green on the data light, paper light, error light and back to paper light blinking again. Has been a great printer.

When you lift the cover on the back of the printer there is a thin plastic sensor very delicate normally black in colour which detects whether there is paper in the tray or not.that sensor is slightly moved from its orignal position or broken , so this problem is coming.

thanks.

Hello, I have a Brother printer HL-5140 Laser--I know it is an old one--just like me!! I know this printer and would like to continue using it. It had paper stuck in it and I pulled it out. Now it won't...

If toner and drum lights are flashing when there is no real problem, you can reset them. Turn printer on, then with front door open hold down both buttons leds will light one at a time and after status lights release buttons and close door.

Or, if paper jammed light is flashing... try this link:

Printer will not print in black was the first problem and now after less than a minute after turning on it has the light for 'on' flashing green and amber constantly

Try this:
1- Pull the cartridges out, restart printer then reinstall the cartridges again
2- The blinking can mean any of these: paper out, paper jam, cover open, printing error. Please check that there is enough paper, no paper jam (sometimes even the smallest piece of paper will cause that error, then restart both (the printer and the computer)
Best of luck

Flashing on/off light on hp deskjet 3520 printer

Introduction The printer lights indicate the printer status. These lights can be on, off, or blinking (flashing), depending on the status of the printer. Close the cover.

Cause

Printer cover is open. Solution

Insert appropriate media in the In tray.

Cause

The printer is out of paper. Solution

  • Change the printer's print mode setting.
  • Change the printer's paper type selection.
  • Use a different brand of label media.

Cause

The printer has difficulty picking up label media. Solution

Follow each of these steps until the problem is resolved:

  1. Remove the paper from both paper trays.
  2. Press the power button once. Wait a moment for the paper jam to clear.
  3. If printing labels, verify that a label did not become detached while passing through the printer. If the paper jam was not resolved, continue on to the next steps.
  4. Remove the rear access door.
  5. Remove the paper jam through the opening at the back of the printer.
  6. Replace the rear access door.
  7. Reload the paper into the paper In tray.
  8. Print the document.

Cause

There is a paper jam. Solution

Follow each of these steps until the problem is resolved:

  1. Remove and then reinsert the print cartridge(s) into the printer.
  2. Clean the print cartridges automatically using the Clean Cartridges option in the Printer Assistant.
  3. Manually clean the print cartridges and print cartridge cradles:
    • Open the printer cover and wait until the carriage moves to the center.
    • Press the Power button to turn off the printer.
    • Disconnect power cord from the back of the printer.
    • Remove the print cartridges and place them on a piece of paper with the nozzle plate facing up.
    • Lightly moisten a cotton swab with distilled water.
    • Clean the face and edges of the print cartridges with the swab. Do not touch the print cartridge ink nozzles or copper contacts.
    • Wipe the underside of the print cartridge cradle walls using a clean, moistened swab.
    • Reinsert the print cartridges.
    • Close the printer cover.
    • Connect the power cord to the back of the printer.
    • Press the Power button to turn on the printer.
  4. Calibrate the print cartridges.
  5. If the light is still flashing, replace the print cartridges.

Cause

There is a problem with a print cartridge. Solution

  1. Print a printer self-test by holding the power button down with a pencil and opening and closing the top cover four times.
  2. Check the nozzle self-test pattern in the self-test print out. If one or more of the solid rectangular areas are missing, an electrical contact problem may be present.
  3. Remove and then reinsert the print cartridge(s) into the printer.
  4. Print the document.
  5. If the problem persists, follow the steps listed above for cleaning the print cartridges and print cartridge cradle.
  6. Try printing again. If the problem continues, replace the print cartridges.

Cause

The print cartridge has partial loss of electrical interface with the carriage connections.

The paper light is flashing

My printer is constantly getting jammed, spitting out blank sheets of paper in between every printed sheet, clicking and snapping, etc.
There are a few places to check for a jam - pull the paper drawer out and check there, take the toner cartridge out and you'll often find a sheet there that you cannot see from any other angle, open the little compartment at the back and check there and the usual paper sticking out of the output just enough to pull it out the rest of the way.
Good luck!
I'll be looking for a new printer this week though. I can't take the constant paper jams and sifting out the blank sheets when I'm printing 500+ statements a month.
Definitely NOT an office friendly machine!
