HP G60-230US will not boot up. The laptop was working fine until it all of a sudden shut itself off ad every time I try to turn it on, the charge light blinks three times and then nothing happens. What does this mean and how do I fix it? Thanks.

SOURCE: laptop boots then shuts automatically off

If you haven't tried it yet, pull the battery out and try booting from the adaptor only. If it boots normally, then your battery pack may be bad (shorted cell) or the regulator that has the job of charging and monitoring the battery pack while keeping your system running may not be healthy.
If you own any multimeter (at the cost of Chinese DMMs, everyone should own one), check the battery pack for charge. Under normal conditions, they should measure a couple of percent higher than their rating. You will have either Lithium Ion or Nickle metal hydride batteries in the pack so should measure some multiple of the nominal cell voltage of one of those types that are respectively 3.6 & 1.2 volts.

SOURCE: Can't find many of the drivers for G60-230US for

You need to download the drivers from the Compaq/HP WEB support/download page. Make sure you select your model laptop and the XP or Vista Windows version of the drivers you require and install them. Use this link to download the drivers

SOURCE: HP 550 Note book will not start

  1. Take out your battery and the power button for about 60secs.
  2. Start the laptop using the Adapter [without the battery]
  3. Lighten up your laptop...remove any external device attached [printer, scanner, pen drives etc.].
  4. It could also be a RAM problem, try changing the RAM if you have two start with one and exchange them.
After that when the system starts you can do the system restore START--ALL PROGRAMS--ACCESSORIES--SYSTEM TOOLS--SYSTEM RESTORE to restore it back to an earlier date when laptop was ok. THEN LATER ON PUT THE BATTERY BACK IN.
  • Try restarting after an hour gap.
  • If this doesn't solve your problem call the company people.Their might be a Video Card problem or any other internal hardware problem.

Toshiba Qosmio F25-AV205 screen keeps going black

If your laptop appears to boot up and the hard disk LEDflashes, then the problem is probably a back light fault. This can be a faultyinverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. The window is suddenly shutting down everytime i open it, eventhough it is fully charged?

Im very sorry to hear that, please follow these simple steps for you to be able to isolate the exact problem.

1. Removed the battery.
2. Connect the laptop directly to the power outlet without using the battery just for the meantime.
3. Turn on the laptop. If the laptop is able to power on, that means that the AC adapter is working fine as well as the DC port. If the laptop is not able to turn on, it maybe the AC adapter itself or the DC port.
4. Try to use another AC adapter if possible, make sure that that AC adapter is working fine. If the laptop is still not turning on, the problem is with the DC port itself. In that case, you will need to replaced the Motherboard itself.

Hope this will help...Thank you for using Fixya...

The battery is the problem. I've seen this plenty of time. If you can't find a replacement for your battery, you have another option. Before that try these to see if it can solve it.

- Replace the battery (make sure its the same model type)
- Check your cable, they make universal charging cables.
- Buy external HDD reader. Look into bestbuy for it, you can take out the HD from your laptop and read it on another laptop/computer.

Good luck

Charging problems

Hopefully the battery is just confused and needs to be reset. Drain the battery down until the system shuts off automatically, then take the battery out of the laptop for two minutes and plug it back in, and connect the AC adapter, let it charge without turning the laptop on, then turn it on and hopefully it should work fine again. If not then you may need to buy another battery. Try again with another AC adapter just in case because you don't want to replace your battery (expensive!)

Please rate, thanks!

Sounds like something to do with a power saving feature either from HP itself or from Windows. It could also be that for some reason your computer is overheating, which it than shuts itself off to protect the processor. I would try playing with your power saving features, and cleaning out the fans.
