When i unplug the timer then reset a new time schedule and plug timer back into wall my timer sets to 88:88. whats am i doing wrong? this timer worked brilliantly until i reset and plugged it back in.

sounds like you have multiple start times. unplug, remove battery after 5 minutes plug transformer back in and install battery. If unit is ne return it

Not knowing the age, make, model... blu-ray, dvd... etcetera ad nausium... puts me at a bit of disadvantage... but the short of a long story is your MACHINE is conflicted betwixt your current instructions and scheduled tasks already resident inside its iddy biddy lil'mind... and what you are currently attempting.

Now would that I could have looked it up... YOUR INSTRUCTIONS MANUAL.... I would be looking for general reset... schedule clearing... and areas of like endeavor.

Perhaps a wee reset button or hole on the rear of your unit
(all else fails... read that manual).

FACTORY SETTINGS restore (nice safe approach).

Else: attempt a brutal HARD-START.
If your "RECORDER" is more than 5 years old... the BACK-UP power battery (if even equipped) might already possibly be dead... (else remove that battery) unplug your unit... go have breakfast, coffee or do my speed-cycle for me...

Replace that battery (if even equipped)... Plug it back in...
Pull up a chair... enter your scheduling MODE... and start looking for entries to erase.

Then try to set your new schedule... Good luck.

What kind of timer, and what power has been switched off?
If this is a typical timer for lights and such, the light must be turned to the on position before you plug it into the timer. Certain lights and small appliances, particularly ones that use flourescent bulbs, may not work with traditional timers at all.
Is the timer itself off? Some timers have their own on/off switch, so that you can prevent the light from going on at all times, such as when you are home. If this is the case, both the timer and light must be on while plugged in, in order for the light to go on at the scheduled times.
Is the power to your house on? Or, have you had a recent power outage? Make sure your home has power, that the appropriate breakers are on, and that the outlet where the timer is plugged in does not have its own wall switch. If you must use an outlet on a wall switch, make sure that switch is on at all times. Tape it down if you have to. If that wall switch is mistakenly shut off, it acts like a whole-house power outage. The timer may automatically reset, or it may be put off schedule. You may need to reset the timer.
If you can be more specific about the problem, I may be able to give a clearer answer.

The first thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

If that doesn't work, leave it unplugged for about 5 minutes.

Try power cycling the TV. To do so, unplug everything from the back of it, power off the TV and unplug it from the wall. Leave it unplugged for a few minutes, and then re-connect and plug the TV back into the wall. Turn it on and reset any system setting changes back to factory defaults. If the problem(s) still exist(s), then I would recommend scheduling repair service.

Buy another timer.
Reset timer using reset button.
Check if timer has batteries. Older timers had batteries. Newer timers have internal rechargeable batteries.
Try on different outlet.
Check outlet polarity using circuit analyzer.
Timers are made to last 1-3 years, some more some less.

Unknown if this is new ST01C timer, or older timer that worked before and stopped working.

Timer can be defective. Battery can be low. Wiring is wrong. Timer programming has overlaps and conflicts. Program 1 is set but program 2 is not set. No programming is set. Short circuit on lights.

I suggest change battery and reset timer, then reprogram timer.
Write out schedule beforehand to avoid conflicts and overlaps.
Program 1 is ON and program 2 is OFF. Program 3 is ON and program 4 is OFF. etc.

A conflict in programming, or program overlap will cause timer to ignore programs. Write out a schedule before programming.

If you reset and re-programmed timer, that is the final answer for the EJ500 and ST01C intermatic battery-operated timers.

The timer comes with a 1 year limited warranty. It doesn't last forever.

If timer is old, maybe it's time for a new one.
If timer is new, then take it back

You need to release the timer to access the VCR. Press the Timer Set button on the remote or the Stop/Eject button on the recorder. Then press the VCR button.

Please note: the scheduled recording will not run as programmed unless you press the Timer Set on the remote again. (The timer locks the VCR until the scheduled ON time.) The DVD player is controlled separately and becomes the default unit.
