My two phones work "in tandem" as I understand

  • lucyemtodd23 Sep 24, 2011

I tried the solution you suggested.....as best I could. No luck! I'm not sure where the "Power Button" is located. Could you explain? I removed the battery, waited a minute, then reinstalled the battery and tried to charge the phone. As I said, no luck.
    Thanks,
    Evelyn Todd

The solution you sent last week did not work. I still have a phone that will not charge. Any more suggestions? This message is the second time I've tried to comment.
    Thanks,
    Evelyn Todd

Hello.

Give this a try:

Unplug the battery in the handset, unplug the phone line from the base and unplug the electricity from the base. Leave everything unplugged for an hour or two instead of five minutes. After an hour or two, plug in everything. If resetting the phone doesn't work then try the next step.

Check the surge protector.

Is the phone line plugged into a surge protector? The surge protector may have stopped working or blown a surge, a sudden burst of electricity, which may have caused the dial tone in your cordless phone to go. Unplug the phone line from the surge protector then plug it back in and see if you get a dial tone? It could be that the phone line plugged into the surge was loose or not plugged in good.

Try a different phone plug, outlet.

Most houses will have multiple phone plugs, outlets. The cordless phone may have lost its dial tone in its current plug but if it's plugged into a different plug, the dial tone may start. This may happen because plugs can go bad.

Check the base.

Is the base dusty and have possible dirt in the prongs where the phone sits? Lift the base and blow off dust.

Check the handset for dirt.

Blow dust off.

Rub metal connections on handset and base.

Use a pen cap or coin and rub the metal connections on the bottom of the handset. Rub the prongs, metal connections on base.

Lastly, double check to make sure the phone is plugged securely into all outlets.

If there is no dial tone and you've tried all the above, the phone itself is probably faulty and needs to be replaced.

Hope this helps.

    Hello again, Evelyn.

I realized that I hadn't suggested to replace the battery.

If that and the other solutions that I noted don't work, then you have a
hardware problem. The power outage as you noted, probably was the
cause (often a slight surge occurs before the power outage) and your
phone would need to be replaced. Not certain of the cost, but a repair would
    not be cost-effective.

    Hope this helps.

Have power but not freezing, cannot hear motor, recently had power outage

Hello max ryan,
I understand that you had a power outage and now that power was restored, you have power inside the appliance but the freezer is not freezing and you can't hear the motor running. I would double check the breakers and make sure that they are on. You can also check the Temperature Control and make sure that it is not in the OFF position. If these solutions do not work, I would call the manufacturer for more help.

-Best Regards-

Can a tandem breaker fail in a way that the two circuits are tied together somehow within the breaker?

Charlie,
If these tandem breakers are the separate 1/2 height breakers in the space of a normal breaker, then no, they can't fail internally to cause what you are describing. But if you have the kind that are permanently stuck together, then I can't say. But here is a simple test: Use a meter or a test light to confirm at the breaker terminals that turning off either one of the breakers still gives you power at both breaker output terminals. Now turn off BOTH breakers, and disconnect one output wire (being careful that the loose wire isn't going to touch somehting!), then turn on the breaker that still has an output wire connected - if the loose wire is live then you have a wiring error where both circuits are connected together downstream. If that is the case, then it may have been intentional as a way to "fix" a frequently tripping breaker by giving it a second chance each time it tripped! (This is a pretty far-fetched idea, but it may give you something to think about!) If it was me, I would just replace the tandem pair with a single breaker and put both of the output wires together on the single breaker.
Good luck! Be careful.

Power outage need to reset - blinks "CL"

remove the power adapter and remove the battery from the handset. Now replace the battery and power the base unit , place the handset on the base and select intercom or search remote.
The base unit must automatically set the frequency to mesh with the handset and handshake to connect.

We had a brief power outage--now prinker knunks

In all probability that Power Outage caused a massive Spike or Surge on your power line. This has affected this unit. It doesn't take much to cause this type of thing and is quite common. It may be repairable, however these days buying a new one is often a better option. If you do go the repair route, go to a reputable place, & please ensure you get a firm "Quote" not an "Estimate" for repair.
