Go to my computer, right click>properties>hardware tab>device manager, then look down the list for mouse and pointing devices, click the '+' sign and right click on your touchpad listing and select uninstall, and then restart the pc.
In Vista start control panel>classic view, then device manager
The touchpad will be reinstalled and then ready to use again as it should be back to normal

Hi, I'm not sure if that is a built-in feature of the Aspire 3000 (AS3004WLCI) but not in your Aspire 5634WLMI but I think that it is an add-on software utility. You may want to try this http://www.nonags.com/nonags/emn.html. It offers freeware E-Mail Notification software flashing scroll-lock light. Hope this works for you.
