My Cusinart DC-1200 coffee maker takes a long time to brew and it will only brew about 8 cups with 12 cups of water being used. Problem just started. Regular filter - no paper - not gold being used. All internal components that I can get to have been cleaned. Please advise. Thanks.

Brewed coffee has a palatable life-span of maybe an hour before it loses flavor. I don't recommend keeping it any longer. The thermos should keep your coffee hot enough to drink for some time. If you really want to drink from that same pot all day long, I'd probably just reheat a cup at a time in a microwave.
the coils are super heating, and condensation of your water is vanishing faster than it's brewing. It sounds like your coffee pot is ready to go to mr coffee heaven
Hello jkdpip, There are two possible issues, but easy to do. When decalcifying your
unit the solution should be 2 parts water and 1 part vinegar. So if you
have a 12 cup maker it would be 8 cups water and 4 cups vinegar.
Complete the process with a pot or two of fresh water to rinse.
Second, there may be a water filter stick that is removable. Open the
lid and look for it in one of the corners, pull it out and remove the
carbon filter there. (You can get a new on Amazon). Then replace the
stick.
I hope this is a help for you. If it is please leave positive feedback for me. Thanks! NormanZ
You may have to clean the grinder....even more. That happened to me once. First I cleaned out the coffeemaker with the brush, and "dug" out more coffee, then I used this product which you can find on Amazon: "Urnex Grindz Coffee Grinder Cleaner - Urnex 17-GRINDZ12-40." It's expensive, but it really worked well.
Coffee overflowing onto the counter is a common complaint found in response to many automatic drip coffee makers. The following are potential solutions that can be used to rule out "operator error" vs. a defect or malfunction:
1. Do not "pack" or otherwise overfill the cone/basket with grinds.
2. Ensure you are using the correct grind for an automatic drip coffee maker, neither too fine nor too course. (See instruction manual.)
3. Do not overfill with water. Use the carafe to pour water into the reservoir. This is because a "cup" in coffee terms is defined as 6 oz, not 8 oz. Note: Some coffee makers define as little as 5 oz as a cup.
4. Make sure the filter cone/basket clicks into place and that the carafe is centered and pushed all the way in.
5. Try a permanent filter rather than a paper filter or vice versa.
6. Only use the correct permanent or paper filter (see manual).
7. Verify that the Pause 'n Serve button isn't sticking. If it is activated too long the brew will escape over the top of the cone/basket. This may be more apt to happen if the alignment of the carafe and the basket is incorrect.
8. Clean your machine with vinegar or as instructed by your user manual at least three times per year, more if your water supply is hard. A properly cleaned machine is less likely to suffer a burned out heating element, to take too long to brew, to produce "off" tasting coffee, or to clog and overrun the filter basket as the water runs through the grinds.
9. Ensure that the coffee machine is sitting level on the counter.
Cuisinart Coffeemaker Decalcification Process Run 2 cups distilled white vinegar and 2 cups water through the system - brew it like it was regular coffee. Then run plain water through the coffemaker to rinse the vinegar out and make sure the decalcification was successful. Repeat as needed. I called Cusinart support and they told me to fill with 2 cups of white vinegar and the rest water, let set for three hours. Did that. Had to keep hitting the on button to get this solution through. Then used a solution of one cup of vinegar and water and this ran through the whole cycle. Ran three more with just water and now it works just fine. Brewed coffee this morning with no problem. Didn't think this would work but seems to have solved the problem. They do suggest you decalcify once a month using the vinegar solution...hope I remember to do this as it would be a lot easier than having to get hitting the on button. Good luck!
you must have a filter and coffee in the basket for a full drain.the weight of the water is enough to open the basket when its full but as your trail run ended the final amount of water is not enough to open drain drop. with filter and coffee in it there is enough weight to keep drain drop open so all water can drain!
