SOURCE: Protect Mode

this is usually a problem with incorrect cabling you should check and see that all your cables are connected properly especially the ground cable thats what would normally give you a red light on your amp

On your amp, there should be a switch (on the side probably) that has "LP", "HP", and "FULL" or "OFF". This is a switch for the low pass/high pass filter. Switch it to "LP" as this will allow only low frequencies to go to your subs, what you want. If you don't have that switch, go to an audio store or online audio supplier and get either a low pass filter, band pass filter, or a cross-over, and follow the wiring diagram that comes with it to filter out the high frequencies before they get to your subs.

Make sure your sub is wired in bridged mode also and not to an ohm load that is too small for your amp to take. Such as a 1 ohm load or a .5 ohm load. A great way to figure this out is to go to Crutchfield and find their section on subwoofer wiring diagrams. Another good source is www.the12volt.com which also will show you all options. you must be presenting a 4 ohm load from your sub to the amp because it's smallest impedence is 2 ohm stable. Then you bridge at the amp which is 2 ohms to each channel you are trying to bridge.

I have a power acoustik bamf 1600/4. not working 5 hours later

use a multimeter to see if the amp has good power wire and remote turn on voltage. then check the ground and make sure its a good strong ground. check the sub to make sure its not bad. make sure it reads whatever ohm its supposed to. anything less than 4 ohms will clip the amp if bridged. if alll that is good then the only thing left is the amp. it sounds like the power supply is bad but check everything else just to make sure. good luck.

I had this amp set to LPF with the volume all the way up. I accidentally switched it to 'full' and it shut off. When it gets power now, It blinks the red light once. I checked my fuses and they are all...

Hello goodgawdz,

It's possible that when switched to amplify all frequencies, the amp drew excessive current and fried the outputs. It's also possible that the speakers were damaged. I'd recommend disconnecting everything except ground, power, and remote and see if the amp powers up normally. If it doesn't, the amp outputs are probably faulty. If it does power up normally, check the speakers and their wiring.

Amp Not working!

If the amp goes into protect mode, it's likely due to shorted output transistors. To eliminate other possible problems, read through the following page:

If the problems are not with the wiring, follow the link at the bottom of the page to the Amplifier Repair Primer page.
