I have a Panasonic SDR-S70P/PC camcorder. When i upload the video to the computer it shows I have used 1.07 g space. When I download to a DVD it takes 3 disks @ 4.7 g. Why doesn't my video fit on 1 dvd disk?

SOURCE: Need Panasonic SDR-H40 software download

You can connect to any computer with a USB port. It appears as a hard drive after you tell the camera to connect (in the menu). Then just copy the .mod files to a spot on yor computer; there will be one for each movie clip.
Your next chore is changing them into MPEG files at the correct aspect ratio. If you shot in 16:9 they will be squished together unless you use the SDCopy freeware utility to set the widescreen flag. It also renames and downloads files for you, and it's small. There's a link from this tutorial page, which also explains a lot about aspect ratios and such:

SOURCE: Conversion of .mod file.

How to convert .MOD file to mpg, avi, wmv, mp4,mkv, flv and other common video formats?

People who own JVC MOD camcorders, Panasonic MOD camcorders or Canon MOD camcorders encountered the same issue with--- what to do with the MOD files---the God forsaken video format. And they hope that there is a magic tool to convert the recorded .MOD file type to mpeg, avi, mkv, flv, mp4, wmv or whatever more common, so that they can put camcorder video on Mysapce, Google video, Hulu later to share with more people,...and thers is another headache thing is that most major video editing suites seem to unwillingly accept the MOD format. even windows video maker, i have to say it's too complicated to use

Someone successfully made it simply by changing the extension from .mod to mpg, but for most people, they just failed only to find there is no audio after the extension is changed, or the changed one doesn’t allow you to import these files into Windows movie maker, not to mention upload some video to Youtube.com or Facebook.

any simple soulution? There is a very simple program that convert .mod NOT ONLY to mpg but many others like avi, mkv, flv, mp4, wmv, rm, mov, dv, mg2 and swf. MOD converter is the one shoot all the trouble. This excellent mod conversion tool is not just a converter but also a video editing tool. From now on, with the MOD converter you can enjoy your mod video on many media player, even on portable devices like blackberry, Gphone, PSP, Creative Zen,etc.

SOURCE: Importing Video to PC with Panasonic SDR-H80

There should be an extra cable that plugs into the battery charger and then into the camcorder to supply power to the camcorder.

How do I download videos from my Panasonic SDR-H80 to my Mac? I have the CD (VideoCam Suite 2.0) that came with the video camera but when I insert it and the icon shows up on my desktop it does not pop up...

I had similar problem. Could not see the files in the DCIM folder. But when I opened iMovie I see the files and can upload them to iMovie just fine. Unfortunately, the Panasonic manual sucks when it comes to instructions for Mac users. All they talk about is using the VideoCam Suite 2.0 but that is only for PC users. Mac users just use iMovie.

SDR S7 panasonic camcorder... lost installation disc

The best solution is to get a replacement CD from Panasonic at
http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-electronics/support/Cameras-Camcorders/Camcorders/Hard-Disk-Drive/SD-Camcorders/model.SDR-S7A
They may replace the CD at a reasonable cost (or free plus S&H). Otherwise they can suggest other editing software that can upload your recordings to the PC.

Uploading video to Mac

You can't transfer videos through USB. You will need a Firewire 6-pin cord and use it to connect from your MAC to the Camcorder. Only then you can transfer videos.
