Phone turns off when clamshell is closed

My phone turns itself off when I snap it shut. I have to close it very gently in order to have it stay on. It also shuts off when I carry it in my pocket, I assume from pressure on the cover.

I recently had this phone replaced under warranty for another issue. The old phone had this problem too, I assumed it was because of dirt inside the case but the new, clean phone does it too. I now think it's just poor design and am considering adding some material to prevent the clamshell from closing completely, or just getting another phone.

I have the exact same problem. It just started about 2 weeks ago, I've had the phone a little over a year. The phone turns off if you let the clamshell snap closed. Also, having problem when you flip it open. I think the problem is a short in the hinge area, must be wires pinched or something. Unless you gingerly open and close it, it turns itself off. Makes me mad because I researched this phone for long time before I got it and I really like the phone.

This phone sucks. Everytime I shut the cover, it would shut off (not so much anymore). NOW I have the blank white screen issue. So annoying :P

Powers off when clamshell closed

this is an issue with these phones and requires that you go through the warranty exchange process with your cell provider. there isnt anything you can do on your end, except for that. if they wont do it, you can always contact the sony / ericsson and get an exchange through them. your provider AND sony, might try to make you purchase a new phone, if you are not eligible for an exchange.

Logo stays on outside display window of cell phone

I'm having the same trouble, and I've found it's because the v3 no longer recognizes the opening and closing of the phone itself. You see, when you close it, something is triggered that tells the phone to shut off the main screen and change the outer screen to the usual mode where it shows the time. You can also test this by trying to take a picture and closing the phone - the external lcd no longer doubles as a second camera display to easily take pictures of yourself. I dropped mine into the toilet, and I'm not sure if there's anything to do but take it to a tech. Sounds and looks like a hardware problem to me.
