I need to download an audio driver for my pc model dimension 5100 in a windows 7 proffesional desktop?can you help me pls? the o.s that work in my pc is windows 7 proffesional after I format ,I didn't install an antivirus and it asks me to enter a new harddisk1.2.3.4 and give me an eroor with the option of cancel,try again and continue,I can't work with what every time it asks me to do that.so pls how can I solve this and if it is a driver problem pls get an updated driver ?

You can download the audio and device drivers from Dell WEB site,the support download page. Make sure you select your model desktop or laptop,better still, type in the Service Tag number, it is printed on the label on thebottom of the laptop and on the back or sides of a desktop. (If the Service Taglabel is missing then go into the BIOS setting and on one of the BIOS pages,the Service Tag number will be displayed). This will open the page where thespecific drivers for your model computer are located. Also make sure you selectthe Windows of the drivers for your Windows operating system. You can either have a bad sound card/chip or just the driver being missing.

Does the sound device show up under start then control panel then system then device manager button which opens a new window ? It may show it marked in yellow. If it doesn;t show then the hardware has failed.

If it does and just needs a new driver then go to www.dell.com and click on support near the top. Then on the looking for drivers and downloads which opens a selection box. I went by choose model, click Desktop, then dimension, and finally 5100 and it takes you to the availabel downloads for that model.

Download the drivers and save it or just run it. When you run it it should install any drivers that are missing or become correupted. You may have to reboot but you should have sound.

If it doesn't find the hardware then it should error out and say hardware not found.

If the hardware is dead then you have a couple of options. One is to replace the main board. And the other would be to purchase a sound card and install that.

1. Insert the driver CD in the CD drive.

2. The setup will launch itself automatically.

3. Follow the instructions and select the driver to be installed.

4. Restart the system.

You can do it two ways:
1) call Dell and order a recovery CD--their contact info is on dell.com
or
2) use a regular Windows CD and install the system using the product number affixed to the case. Then go to Dell at support.dell.com to download the needed drivers.

It is necessary to download the audio drivers from the dell website. www.dell.com. Type in your model number and it will show you a list of drivers. Windows often install a generic audio driver, but what you need is the one from the Dell website

Save it to the C: drive in a location you can find. Then run the file to install it.

this is the path to check your pc's configuration
go to manage property of my computer
then go to device manager, you can see all your hardware connected with your computer.
now in device manager if you are seeing yellow ballon that means u need to install that perticular driver..
check name and configuration of that device through properties by left click.
and u can get those driver from internet.
