I got a toshiba satellite pro a100 laptop (psaace- 007002en) second hand and it still has lots of the previous owners files on so I would like to restore it to factory settings but i don't have the disks. I have tried holding down 0 on startup but it does nothing, I have tried the setup menu on start up and cant seem do it there either, is there another way?

To start the systemrecovery:

Restart the computer.
When the Computer logo appears on the screen, press the Alt and F10 keys repeatedly.
If you are prompted with a Microsoft Windows boot screen, press the Enter key.
After the system recovery application has loaded, follow the prompts to reinstall the Operating System.

If the ability to reinstall from the previous method is not available orfails, recovery of the Operating System will need to be from Recovery Media. Ifyou do not have a set of Recovery Media, you may purchase the set onlinefrom the manufacturer. Note: If your computer does not havean internal optical disc drive, an external optical disc drive will be requiredin order to recover the Operating System using Recovery Media.

Restart the computer.
When the computer logo appears on the screen, press the F12 key repeatedly to enter the computer's Boot Menu.
Press the CD-ROM drive eject button and insert the disc labeled System CD.
Close the CD-ROM tray.
Refer to on screen instructions to select either CDROM or USB CDROM.
The computer will boot from the Recovery Media
When prompted for the Recovery CD, remove the System CD and insert the Recovery CD.

Note: Ifthere are multiple Recovery CDs, please insert the first of the Recovery CDs.

After the system recovery application has loaded, follow the prompts to reinstall the Operating System.

I have problum dvd writer

is the DVD writer the original unit in the notebook ? if not usre, refer to the manual -- if you dont have manual, go here (it will cost a little )

before you format, try replacing the DVD writer another unit similar

i would restore the notebook to factory settings -- this is the best option in getting the computer back to the way it worked originally going to the factory settings management portion in the system and or use your recovery CDs to format and re isntall everything

you should be able to get it from realtek.com.
you need the high def driver.
or you could download driver max and it will update all your drivers for free.
