Broken flat screen tv

Okay recently my father's flat screen T.V. had an unfortunate run in with A wildly flung Wii controller. it hit the tv in the very top right corner, leaving roughly a 4"x4" spider webbed crack in the corner, a black streak the same width as the cracks that runs to the bottom of the screen and is filled with random vertical colored lines, and some faint black lines running along the top of the screen horizontally about halfway across and as far down the screen as the cracks.. i'm wondering if its possible to repair this as least partially or if its a lost cause... anyway I thank you for your time and am patiently awaiting your reply,

one of my kid's friends hit something into the middle of our flat screen. Now there is a big "spiderweb" in the center and vertical lines with a "no signal" coming up on the screen. Wondering if it is fixable or better to buy a new tv?

My spider web is in the left corner of the TV and I all did was tilt it forward while dusting the TV stand..

As god as my witness, nothing ever touched our 46", 8-month-old Bravia. Yet one day we turned it on to find the same spider web you folks are talking about... Sony has been a nightmare to deal with regarding this issue. We can only hope that honest consumers like ourselves can expect to be compensated for our sometime, thousand-dollar losses....

If you have not yet fixed this and haven't trashed the set I may have a solution.

I have a 50HP66 that has a good screen but bad sustain boards.

I will buy the boards from you...Easy to remove. Then you can use that money to buy a new TV.

Fixing a cracked screen is not practical. IE. Replacing the whole screen.

These sets are made to be sent to the land fill when the warranty is up.

Maybe we should have our lawmakers force companies to have minimum warranties for large toxic products that end up in the trash. Then they might make them last more than a year.

Broken screen sony tv from wii

you now have a parts TV, a replacement screen will cost more than the set is worth. I would suggest listing the set on EBay or your local Craigslist as a parts unit. If you get offered $40-$60, take the money and run!

My tv has a broken screen

This is an unfortunate tragedy for your tv. The part is listed by encompass part source for your LG plasma tv. Part # EAJ41988092 PDP module is $ 1,087.45. You may find it cheaper to shop for a new tv. If this was accidental does your homeowners cover this type of loss ? People please wear your Wii remote wrist strap!

A Wii remote control hit the screen and now it looks like a spider web when I turn it on. Where can I purchase a new screen?

Sorry, but forget it. Unfortunately you've broken the single most expensive component part of your tv. Buying the screen separately often costs more than replacing the tv and that's before you add labour charges as fitting it is not a DIY job.

In essence, when you buy the tv you actually buy a the screen at a bulk discount with all the other parts needed to make it a tv thrown in free of charge.

Your only realistic fix is to buy a new tv, sorry.

Hi,
unfortunately the panel sounds like it cracked, that cannot be repaired and panel replacement will cost more than new tv. They make clear plastic protective screens for lcds websites like tv-armor and the like sell them.

Broken flat screen

When the LCD panel is broken, you should consider the TV 'Totaled". The cost of a replacement LCD screen is almost as much as a new TV. You can sell off the remainder for the set for parts and recover some of your investments to buy a new set.
You can search the .net for a TV armour screen to prevent this from happening again.

Wii Controller into TV - - Very Bad

An LCD TV, from front to back, consists of these layers:

protective film - <1mm thick
liquid crystal cells - <1mm thick
charge screen - <1mm thick
backlight panel - 5-10mm thick
metal heat spreader - 2-5cm thick
controller board - 1mm thick

Your son most likely damaged the liquid crystal cells...

Unfortunately unlike normal TVs these are precision assembled, and there isn't much you can do to fix it.

It is possible to replace the screen, but it involves replacing the entire unit, from protective screen right to controller board. In other words, almost everything except the plastic case.

Unfortunately I think the tv is busted permanently, and it will cost more to repair than to replace.

Screen was hit with wii controler, no picture, able to see crack on screen only whwn tv is on, sound is good, colors lines only

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you will need to replace the panel. There is no way to "repair" a broken panel. Unfortunately, it is possible that the replacement panel may cost more than a replacement set. Try calling the support number in the manual and ask about the cost of a replacement LCD panel.
