I appear to have locked my ds 2300 - I am not aware how. I have followed the instructions on page 31 of the maual, but when I get "lock" flashing on the display, and press "rec" as told, I do not get the next screen, but a message saying "read card only". Please advise how I can unlock my dictaphone!! Thanks.

If you did not purposely lock the files, must likely the memory is corrupted. You can reformat the memory from the menu. This will wipe out any files on the memory card.
That lock icon indicates a locked door, and if you can open your door with it locked, your door lock will need to be reset. Your instruction manual should have your reset procedure listed in back. But if your door IS locked, you will need to manually drain out the water before it will open.
Follow this instructions carefully 1 - Switch on your Nokia 2300 without any sim card.
2 - Don't bother as to what is displayed on your Nokia 2300.
3 - Compose #pw+CODE+1#.
4 - The Nokia 2300 would then display the message "SIM Restriction
Off" and will be unlocked!
