My Mcculoch TM251 petrol hedge trimmer won't start after I stop the engine.

I would check the oil/ fuel mix ratio as it may be too weak and the engine is starting to seize up
nothing over 50: 1 ratio and most will operate as low as 25:1 ratio
while it is running check to see if it is smoking at the exhaust
if not ,there is not enough oil in the fuel

Oil ratio mix

This unit is designed for 40:1 however with the new better oils it can run 50:1 make sure the oil you mix is "FD" rated.
Better is to use the pre-packaged fuels they have the "FD" oils and 93 - 95 octane non-ethanol fuels.

How do i workout the fuel mix for my plt2543y strimmer

Oil gas should be mixed in the ratio 1 to 50 or 2%
That's 20 mL in 1 litre or 3 fluid ounces per US gallon of gas.

What is the current oil/gas mix for the excalibur 22" hedge clippers? How about the new oils like Echo an Brigg/stration that are used at 50/1. Would 50/1 be acceptable in the weed eater excalibur?

50:1 is 50:1 no matter whose 2 cycle mix you use. 50:1 is 2.6 ounces of 2cycle mix to 1 gallon (US) of gasoline. I recommend strongly to use a brand that contains fuel stabilizer. It will come in a 3.2 ounce bottle...still 50:1. The premium 2 cycle oils will be semi-synthetic or full synthetic and will claim "no smoke"
