Try to disable Error Correction Mode (ECM).
to do so:
Press Menu . Press the Right Arrow (>) until Advanced Fax Setup appears. Press Enter . Press the Right Arrow (>) until Error Correction Mode appears. Press Enter . Press the Right Arrow (>) until Error Correction Mode ON or Error Correction Mode OFF appears. Press Enter . Send another fax to verify that the ECM is enabled or disabled.

When I first got my HP Officejet Pro 8500A I had no problem faxing. Now I get an error 350 code. Why? How can I fix this problem

HP's description of this error code is as follows

Definitions
  • The remote machine failed to respond to a fax command from the local machine because the connection was interrupted. These errors can occur if the phone lines in the area to be faxed are old or there is noise (static on the phone line). Other reasons can include power outages and other power-related problems.
  • The call-waiting service can cause this error. The click, heard for an incoming call, is actually a momentary disconnect of the line.
  • The remote user pressed the Stop key while the reception was in progress.
  • Under rare conditions, incompatibility between the two machines might cause the remote machine to abandon the call.

Solutions
  • Retry the fax reception at a different time when telephone line conditions have improved. Call the telephone provider if line conditions fail to improve.
  • Disable ECM. Errors might still occur, and might result in a degraded image quality on the received page. However, the ability to send the entire document will be improved. Click here for instructions on enabling and disabling ECM (c00060802) (in English).
  • Try sending at a lower transmission speed.

I have an hp officejet pro 8500 fax, scanner, copier and printer. I keep getting an error message 350 when I have repeatedly tried to send a fax. What do I do and what does error 350 mean? Thanks in...

error 350 means a disconnection, from your machine to that of the remote fax machine. Disconnection can either come from a power shortage, defective or not so good telephone lines, a call-waiting mode on the telephone, a defective fax machine or manual interruption.

What is error 388

there is not error code for the OfficeJet 4315. however, there are similar code for other Hp printer.
error "388" is lised as unable to detect T30 frames. in other words, the machine fail to establish comparable connection. this can be the machine trying to send out fax in high speed, or the phone line problem.
consult the user manul how to set a lower transmission rate, or try to send the fax at a differnt time of the day . If that still give you problem, please call the phone company and have they look a the phone line.
