JasThe tape holding carriage is half way out and will not move anymore. There is a tape in the carriage. Help

  • Jerome Slavitt Sep 19, 2011

Thanks for the quick reply, but...it did not work. The carriage is half way out with the door open. Nothing but a few beeping sounds

  • Jerome Slavitt Sep 22, 2011

I saw that fix on your website before I paid. It did not work.

As stated, The carrage came half way out with the tape still inside and it is stuck in that position. No movement either way.

Hello,

First of all I can not see what the other experts had suggested. So what are the htings you have already tried? Can you still close the carriage? If you can, close it then smack it with medium force then try opening it again.

Goodluck!

Hi jaslavitt

Thanks for your question at Fixya,

Please find the solution to your problem as follows :-

What you can do now , is remove the batteries first and then put them back in and then which you hold the camera in a position as if you are recording the video , press the eject button and the tape can come out, it gets stuck sometimes , however when the above process is done properly it works fine.

Hope this helps ...:) In case you have any queries , feel free to contact me.

Welcome to Fixya

Sounds like there is a problem with the mechanism. Try this one first. Remove the battery and AC power to "reset" the camera. Put the battery back in and hold the camera in the upright (s if you are using the camera to shoot video) position then "Open/Eject" latch.

Thank you for using Fixya!

Vcr/tv how to get the carriage unstuck

It sounds as if the drive belt or wheel that controls the carriage has perished and failed. There is normally a micro switch on the side or rear of the tray, that senses the presents of a casset. If it is closed with stikky tape or clay you may be able to simulate a casset in the machine and with manual force help the casset to open or close. alternatively a small lamp in the centre of the tray senses the tape. then you have to cover the lamp or two sensors on left and right side of the tray, to prevent detection of the broken or missing tape.

I JUST UNJAMMED MY HP 3930 PRINTER AND I JUST RECIEVED A " THE CARRAIGE IS STALLED MESSAGE"

Turn the printer off and unplug it. Open the area where the catridges are. Gently move the carriage back and forth to make sure it is free and able to move. If it is. Plug it back in and turn it on and it will re align the carriage itself. If you cannot move it or the tape that holds it is trapped or broken, then you will need to send it to an hp repair facility.

How do I change the cartridge

  • Turn on your printer and lift the access door. The print carriage will move to the center.

  • Once the print carriage has stopped moving, remove the empty cartridge by pushing down on it and pulling it towards you.
  • Remove the replacement cartridge from its packaging. Peel the pink tape away from the bottom while holding the cartridge by the sides.
  • Hold the replacement cartridge with the label on the top. Slide cartridge into the appropriate slot. Insert cartridge at a slight angle, then apply pressure until it snaps into place.
    • Close the print carriage access door.
    • Align the printer if it prompts you and if not just align it manually

Vcr will not play tapes anymore after dislodging stuck tape,Why?

I've worked on many of these. The problem is usually a cracked carriage. These carriage holders are made of nylon and must be replaced. Unfortunately many of these are no longer available. Thanks for asking and show me a few hands of support!

    HP 870Cse feeder/roller is dead

Take a very small amount of Goo Gone on a paper towel and roll it over the rollers. You can press and hold the top button to get the rollers moving. This will revitalize the rubber rollers. My printer is over ten years old and I do this about every two years and never get a misfeed.

    Philips VRB664AT flashing 2

It sounds you may have it out of sync. With the top off, load a tape and watch it load. VCR's are light sensitive, they have light sencors on the sides of the carriage to monitor the end of the tape. So a you might have to block the light by holding a pice of cardboard kinda over it with the top off. Make sure the tape goes out around the head, if it does'nt than there could be a belt off ,IF it is a belt drive. If not it gears.Make sure the tape cartiage comes all the way out, sometimes the carriage does'nt come all the way back. That means it has slipped a tooth on a gear. Sometimes its a lengthy process, but mostly machinal.

Sony SlV-SE730 VCR video inserted wrong way

    Unplug the VCR.
Take the cover off by taking out the small screws on the sides and on the back that hold the cover on.
With the cover off you should be able to gently move the tape back out.
Things could be damaged......after the tape is out, you should try it first with a tape that could possibly be damaged during testing and do not touch anything inside while plugged in to power during testing with the cover off!
Now......if it is not a working VCR anymore......you are in luck.
There are garage sales every weekend...and almost every one has a VCR for almost nothing....some like new.....and boxes and boxes of tapes/movies for very little money too.

MAGNVOX MWR20V6 VCR WON,T ACCEPT TAPE EJECTS WONT LOAD UP

    Hello alhertel,

The old idler wheel has been replaced with gears (cheaper and last longer then the old rubber wheel). What you need to do is to gain access to the loader motor and turn it until the carriage begins to move, once the carriage gets to the top and moves outward you should be able to eject the tape with no problem.

Believe it or not VCRs are throw away technology, since it costs as much to repair one as it does to buy a new one. However, there are a lot of people who still hold on to their VCRs.

    I hope this helps,

    Thank you,

    Can't insert tape into deck

Remove the cover again and move the tape carriage all the way towards the front (the carriage is not fully in the locked position). Once that is done you should be able to load a cassette again.

    Tape stuck in RCA VR501

This could require a tech savvy person to help you, but maybe... You might be able to remove the tape carriage assembly (this is the assembly which loads and unloads the tape). There will be 2 or 4 screws which hold this assembly in place. It is possible however, these screws are "covered up" by the tape being there. These mechanisms are often gear or gear-like driven. If you see these gears, you might be able to turn them (or the motor which runs them) by hand, and get the tape fully unloaded. Use care- modern VCRs (since the early '90s) are easily broken, or the thin metal bent. Also, the gears must be exactly in time- that is, exactly positioned with each other. Being off by just one tooth will result in a non-working mechanism.
