Your expansion box is a CAP (central answer position) module. I will assume you are using the same jack as before. The line cord, from phone to jack should be 6 conductor (count pins on end). A short line cord runs from back of phone to back of CAP (plugs on CAP are labelled) then the longer cord runs from CAP to the wall jack.
That might mean that the line(s) is(are) not programmed for that telephone. If you press feature * 0 then one of the line buttons, does it list as a line or blank?
The solution for someone using the administrator phone (receptionist phone) is after discovering you have a fax call, depress the <link> button. Dial the fax number, wait for it to answer, then depress <link> again. This places call 1 with an outside number.
Apparently this is also available if you have a feature button by depressing <feature> <7> <1> instead of <link>. I haven't tried this so don't take my word for it.
This can also be used to forward a caller to an outside line, such as a cell phone. In the manufacturing business, our shop manager is never in the office. I may ask him if this is a viable solution.

If a Night Service key will be used to activate auto attendant answering, leave Ans: at No. 7 – If line has been changed to Ans:AA, press * then press TABLE. 8 – If Table:1 is OK press RINGS. (Table 1 is the default greeting table. Change to a different table (1-4) if alternate answering is required on the line being programmed.) 9 – Rings:0 – Press CHNG, dial number of rings before auto attendant answers the line, or leave at 0 for immediate answering. Allow at least 2 rings if CLID is in use. 10 – Repeat for each line to be programmed. Notes For Night Service Mode Auto Attendant Answering If the auto attendant will only answer lines in night service mode, line answering should be set to No as per step 6 above. Using night service will cause the AA to answer lines immediately.
I'm not going to steal anybody else's answer, so go to the home page and search for feature 983. That should take you to answers given by others.
Or, try http://recognizer.org/norstar/ and, if you have a Startalk you can find the answer on how to reset your password. I don't know if it also works on Call Pilots or not.
