power supply or inverter board failing if the power board is the problem it will have blown caps
little cans with puffy tops because the caps have vented if you don't see that then your inverter has died that model id out of production so try shop jimmy. com

replace your STK ICs they are big black ICs will have part # on them call Mats 1-800-628-1118

I had the same problem with a Magnavox LCD TV. It would not turn on and the light on the external PSU flashed. I found a replacement 12V 5A power supply on EBAY. It brought the set back to life.

This may be caused by a protective circuit that is reacting to a momentary failure on the oput put side of the main power supply or a failure in the supply itself.
Depending on the nature of the problem, I would still suggest having it repaired since the flat panel sets, regardless of type, are not lasting as long in service as your Magnavox.
If you decide to replace it with a new set, I wouldn't discard the one you have as long as you have a converter on hand for digital reception. You may be disappointed with a new set quite soon after purchase and want to have the Magnavox repaired after all.

I would say you got a bad one. They have an auto-shutdown setting, but shutting off as soon as you power it on sounds like a defective converter. How long ago did you purchase it? There should be a 1 year warranty on it. If it is new, return it to the place of purchase. There is also a toll free number on the enclosure that will be able to replace it if it is still under the warranty.

It may be touching in the back of the tv on a power point. Yours is doing the same thing mine did before it finely all most burnt up it self and my house The metal casting that the tv mounts on in the tv ,does not have enough room in it. the metal casing touches one of the power supplys in the back and shorts out. If its like my 32'' magnavox flat panel

You could have bad STKs if so replace both of them.Big Black chips on convergence board.

These sets are notorious to have bad components in the power supply, and if you have solid state repair experience, you will need a service manual to repair this SMPS(switch mode power supply) Good Luck
