I was tryin to put a back up camra in my yukon xl when i hook the power line i got a short and now my dash lights and a/c controls and hi beam indacter and the D,N,1,2,3 DONT WORK

Sounds like a fuse is blown (most likely cause). I would turn the Key on leave the engine off and take a test light and check all of the fuses on the inside of the vehicle. (when testing the test light should light up on both sides of the fuse if it doesn't it is burnt),

2001 GMC Yukon power drain

Hi. I have posted a procedure below that will help you isolate the actual drain. follow carefully.

Here is the procedure I use to isolate a battery drain. Remove negative battery cable from the battery. Using a 12-volt test light, hook one end to the negative battery post the other end to the negative battery cable you just disconnected. The test light will glow or "light" if there is a drain. If the "light or glow" is faint, that is probably normal draw for the clock or computer. If the "light or glow" is bright, then there is a large drain. That should be corrected. Now start removing and replacing the fuses one by one until the light goes out; that one will be the circuit with the drain. Remember to hold in the button in the door jam for the interior lights.

2001 gmc yukon

This means there is a fault in the four wheel drive system, the light reset's each time the key is turned off, then it tests itself after the engine is started, if the fault occurs again the light will come back on.
