Super easy fix. The drive spring gets twisted when bearing in vibrating head seizes due to moisture. Spray wd40 on the seized bearing and reinforce the spring drive with a pickup stick down the center. Happy wife happy life.

You're bummin'...
1) That's the drive spring and is specifically made for that exact function and no hardware store spring is going to work, even IF you could find the size.
2) Normally (not always) when that spring goes its the symptom, NOT the cause. Just like when a fuse blows - it blows because something went wrong. In this case its usually because the bearings in the vibrating head have seized up. This can happen because of normal wear (it gets used how much???) or as is often the case, it gets exposed to moisture from (Fill in your own TMI here_________)

PREVENTING THE LATTER:
**DANGER! THIS DOES --NOT-- MAKE IT ANY SAFER ELECTRICALLY THAN IT WAS TO BEGIN WITH!!! You have no business using any plug in appliance near any source of water!
The chance of moisture encroachment can be somewhat reduced by putting a LATEX condom over the head and at least half way down the handle.
Yes, you really should use a LARGER size, and if you stretch it a bit before you unroll it (think rubber band) it'll go on a little easier. The brand I prefer isn't even sold as a larger size, its called "One". they may be hard to find local, but there's a guy on that big auction site (###inbulk is his store) who has incredible prices on ALL brands. The neat thing about One's is after you get the anatomically shaped part over the head, they almost unroll themselves down the handle.

You're still bummin', though, no parts unless you find one with a different problem to rob parts from. Then again if you rob Peter to pay Paul, Peter gets sore - and nobody likes that. ;)

Forgot to mention that the style of the "One" brand condom is Pleasure Dome. The others don't work quite as well.

Fixed it with a match... stick a piece of tooth pick, I fixed it with a match in the middle of the spring (to hold the spring with the fan).... and it's now fixed!!

Hello there, Hitachi does not provide support for this product parts wise.To get a replacement spring you would need to get the spring from the nearest hardware store available to you. Basically what you need to do is determine the size of the spring and you can easily get a replacement spring from the nearest hardware store. Usually it is recommended you take the unit there so you can get the exact size needed. Other than this you can get the spring size and order a replacement spring online from amazon or ebay or any hardware website in your locality.
Hope this support has been helpful?

Bring the spring to a local hardware store (not a big brand like home depot, lowes or Mr. Brocco). Go to an Ace hardware or small town hardware store. They usually have dozens of sizes to compare your's with. They usually don't have to be exact replacements. Just so they fit in the space and have about the same force or tension. Make sure your new one Has about the same space between coils (if any) and about the same diameter wire. You should be able to find something. If you tell the guy at the hardware store what it is for, he may become extremely helpful!

What do I do if my Hitachi Magic Wand appears to be burnt out?

The drive spring gets twisted when bearing in the vibrating head seizes due to moisture. Spray WD40 on the seized bearing and reinforce the spring drive with a pickup stick or chopstick down the center.

Any rod that fits snugly inside the drive spring will do.

Auriol weather station. My external sensor is not working. I have replaced the batteries but it still doesn't illuminate the red led. Please can anybody give me advice

The sensor should flash briefly when you put in good batteries. Afterwards it should flash about every couple of minutes. If you have a voltmeter check the batteries are at least 1.3 volts (the voltage will drop when they get colder). Ideally they should be about 1.4-1.6 V. Try cleaning the battery compartment contacts and springs with a cotton bud and alcohol. If the contacts look rusted then use fine emery paper or scrape with a screwdriver to remove the rust and tarnish. Clean the ends of the batteries by rubbing with a tissue or cloth. When inserting new batteries twist them inside the battery housing to help make better contact. Another thing you might try is to use a screwdriver to very carefully stretch the springs in the battery compartment a little to allow better contact. (Warning do not pull the spring too hard so as not to damage it) If using new batteries does not help then the sensor may have a fault. If the led on the outdoor sensor is flashing but the indoor sensor does not pick up the signal you can try putting the indoor sensor closer to the outdoor sensor. Otherwise you may need to re-tune the indoor sensor to the correct frequency (there is a small adjustable screw inside).

Proform GR 80 won't turn on even after new batteries, how do I fix?

On mine, I found that the battery contact springs on the inside of the control head (not the ones on the battery lid) were flattened out and were no longer making good contact with the batteries. I used a small hook to stretch them out a little so that they could make contact. As soon as I put the batteries back in I saw the display light up and now the bike works normally again.

It seems to have power going thru it..but no vibration...help

The small sping has come out of the shaft from the motor. If you open the unit you will see that the motor has a little impeller and a shaft with a slot in it. The little spring inside of the massager head is suppose to ride inside of that motor shaft with the little tab on the spring lining up in the slot. It's really flimsy and after I fixed mine it fell out again after 5 minutes of use. It needed a stiffer spring or a different way of engaging the motor shaft. I'm still working on this...

Hose attachment

Your wand is getting stuck in the hose because the hose is twisted - you need to unwind it:

1) Pull the wand up as far as you can, all the way if possible
2) Stretch the hose out and unwind it, use some babypowder on the metal part of the wand and in the future, unwind and stretch the hose out after you use it

3) If you can't get the wand all the way out, remove the canister from the front, push the button where you see the 7 vertical grooves (on the opposite side of the hook that you wind the cable around) - then pull on the hook and pull the hose up and off of the machine - stretch the hose out from the bottom and pull the wand out - now apply baby powder to the metal rod and disconnect and stretch and unwind the hose every time after you used the wand to clean.

Dyson dc25 animal: cannot remove the telescope reach wand.

The hose is getting twisted on the machine and so the wand gets stuck in the hose.

1) Pull the wand out as far as you can - if you can pull it out completely, separate it from the hose and apply baby powder to the
metal rod. Stretch out the hose and unwind it. In the future, separate the wand and unwind/stretch the hose after use.
2) If you can't pull the wand out all the way, remove the canister/dirt bin from the front. Look for a gray button with 7 vertical
lines/grooves on it (it'll be just above the ball on the opposite side of the bottom hook that you wind the cable around).
3) Push the button and at the same time pull the hose out from the bottom by pulling on the hook - this will release the gray hose
from the machine. Take it off of the machine if possible (the bottom of the wand may stop you from doing so - if it does, try to pull
the wand out until you can release the hose from the bottom)
4) Pull and stretch the hose out and pull the wand at the same time - separate the wand from the hose and unwind the gray hose and
stretch it out. Rub baby powder on the metal rod of the wand and in future, disconnect the wand from the hose and stretch/unwind the
hose after every time you use the wand.

Sounds like its working, but nothing happens

I had the same problem with mine, it's due to the fact that the smaller spring has become un-lodged from the ******** itself.

You will need:
1. Roll of electrical tape.
2. Utility Knife
3. A small slot head screw driver OR a pair of needle nose pliers.

The solution is to unscrew the silver ring so that is can be moved up and down. Now, you need to use a utility knife and cut the blue rubber off of the spring. Once you have the blue rubber but off you can see a large spring with another smaller spring inside. Push the head of the ******** till the larger spring's coils are an 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch apart. Next take either the small slot head screw driver or a pair of needle nose and jam the smaller spring back into the hole in the center of the white plastic piece inside of the larger ring. Next plug it in to make sure the vibration is working, reattach the silver piece and tape the larger spring with electric tape.
