The most common cause of the gun not firing is loading it with the wrong staples. Look at the packaging for the staples and see if it lists the gun. Staples are NOT universal and are make for specific staple guns.
It "sounds like" it is jammed. You may have to pull out the staple with needle nosed pliers. e`1
Everyone here is assuming that you have fully operational gun. I have a business where we use these guns. I can tell you now that 3 out of 5 of the Arrow JT-27 just don't work. The staples won't advance. After looking at the information online, it is probably due to a weak spring. The best solution is to go with a different brand of stapler. This one is just not worth the trouble.
jl open up the slide ,there is a spring end that pushes the staples into the head ,that sticks in the rail a small screwdriver will release it,it will get stuck again but now you know the prob.
Powershot Pro (Model 8000) Loading staples is pretty much what you would guess, EXCEPT that releasing the catch takes a very strong pull, or it won't budge at all. Grasp the black plastic catch at the rear of the stapler base, pull very hard (probably 5lbs or more) and the catch will move about 1/4" away from the stapler ("down" if you think of the stapler in its usual orientation.) You can then slide the catch and the spring mechanism "backwards" leaving room to insert staples or brads. (Note, "T-50" staples and brads should fit. If loading brads, they go along the side of the magazine which is closest to the "staples remaining" window.)
You shouldn't have to do anything to the MIIIFS flooring stapler to shoot 2" staples. It is designed to shoot 1 1/2" to 2" staples right out of the box. If your stapler won't feed 2" staples, check the magazine all the way up to the power head for any foreign material that may hold up your staples.
Staple gun are simple device and the 'shooting' mechanism is just a sring loaded bar that hammers the staple out: the problem is usually a jam/stuck staple where the staple in the orifice where the staple comes out. Just use a small screwdriver and /or plier to remove the stuck staple which could be jammed against the hammer bar. You may need to force the hammer bar backwards with the help of your small flat head screwdriver.
