Whirlpool cabrio discharge pump makes grinding noise when draining.

Its the drain pump it has something caught in it happens all the time to me

check for objects in the tub such as hair pin ,nail etc...

The pump when going sounds like a grinding noise

Did you hear a clicking noise during the spin and drain cycle? If so, then change has gotten into the tub and discharge pump and cracked the plastic housing on the pump. had the same problem. Had to replace the pump.

does the sound happen when its agitating or spinning? or when its draining? if its when it spins or agitates it can be the hub number 8 & 9 in the diagram. if its when its draining it the drain pump which is known for coins getting stuck inside it. to check the pump lean the machine back and you will see the drain pump which is the one with the drain hose connected to it. if this helps please dont forget to rate me.. thanks http://lookup.bellparts.com/diagramenlarge/whirlpool/45568/00079213

Sound like your timer might be going bad.

could be a bearing gone

yes most likely the pump has a worn out bearing

there could be something in your pump.....remove the pump and see if there is not something inside...
