I understand that you're receiving what you believe to be a 'false' paper jam on your HP Photosmart C6280 All-in-One Printer. I would like to work with you today with resolving this issue. Paper jams can be real or false. The product might report a paper jam even when there is no jammed paper. A false paper jam may also be the result of having a bad paper jam at a point in time and that bad jam causing a hardware issue to the paper sensor or rollers. I am going to provide you with some additional troubleshooting steps that apply to both real and false paper jams. You did state that you already checked the paper pathway inside the printer and failed to find any evidence of paper being stuck, but please run the step-by-step troubleshooting below, even if you have already run some of the steps.
Here is a link on how to clear all the paper jams that can happen on your HP printer. Also, here is another link on how to clear the paper feed rollers on your printer.
And here is the User Guide for HP Photosmart 3110 for any reference.
You can follow the step by step procedure from HP site to clear the Paper jam on this printer, just go to this link and from there follow the procedure. click HERE.
