Dryer runs. Element does glow (for about 1 minute). Dryer gets warm, but element does not come on again. What do you think?

Hi...I have a electric whirlpool dryer that is a couple years old. It turns on and runs but doesn't get hot at all. If it is a heating element, where is that at?

Why won't my whirlpool electric dryter #ler4634dqo generate heat?

if you have a old house that has fuses sometimes only half of the fuse will blow making it look like the dryer is working but it wont turn on the heat element take the shielding off the heating element and start the dryer and see if they wires glow red hot when running and also after running the machine does the inside feel warm or cold if it is warm check the duct work on the dryer all the way out to the exit and see if lint is clogging it up

I have a Whirlpool LER4634PQ1 it was working just fine then all of a sudden the dryer just keeps running the knob on the dryer doesn't move and the air isn't warm. Any suggestions on what to s

there is a cycling thermostat in line with the high limit thermostat and timer circuit,on timed dry its disabled and the timer will run no matter what,on any sensor dry setting it uses the heat of the element to heat this cycling thermostat to move the timer as the clothes get drier as the heating element heats the timer doesn't move, when the heater cycles off from the high limit thermostat then timer moves again, you need to find out if its a bad heating element, thermal fuse or possibly even a circuit breaker in the homes electrical panel tripped out on one of the 2 phases that gives you the 240 volts required to operate the dryer element, the breaker may not show its tripped,so shut it off and back on and try this first

Have you checked the vent from the dryer to outside. One indication of a restricted vent is taking too long to dry clothes. To check, remove vent tubing from back of dryer and dry a load.

Are you sure the fan is working . Also the heating element could be shorted to the heat element cover. Take an ohm meter and check from the heating element to the cover if you get ohms it is shorted if the meter don't move it is ok. If it is shorted you get half the heat not hot enough but still feels warm. Hope this helps good luck..

My Electric Dryer's Heating Element Glows orange while in use

Hi. this is quite normal when you dry heavy items. the dryer has sensors inside the compartment that will sense cotton and wool garment. if needed, the thermal regulator will adjust the element to the appropriate range. If there is a problem, the electronic thermal fuse will blow. this is the safety feature that will trigger itself if a fire or over heating is sensed. Also, if your selector knob is set to a cotton or high heat mode, the element will normally glow intensively during this cycle.

Please rate and god bless.

Dryer heats slowly

When dryer heats too slow, that means that there is a problem either with the heating element, the thermostat, or the vent.

See the following suggeations from Repairclinic:

Drying is too slow It normally takes about 45 minutes for a dryer to dry a full load. If your dryer is taking more than an hour, check these.

Vent
Heating element
Internal ductwork
Cycling thermostat
Vent Frequently there's an obstruction in the vent duct from the dryer to the outside of the house. For the dryer to heat properly, the duct must be clean and clear of lint or any other substance.

Heating element Your dryer's heating element may be partially burned out. If it is, your dryer still heats, but at such a low temperature that it takes three or four times as long to dry the clothes. If the element is partially burned out, replace it.

Internal ductwork Your dryer has some internal ductwork. If it gets clogged, your dryer can't dry properly. In most dryers, to get to the internal ductwork to clear the clog, you have to substantially disassemble the dryer. A quick way to check for internal clogs is to remove the lint filter and use a flashlight to inspect the inside of the duct. If it looks clogged and you can't clear it using your vacuum, contact a qualified appliance repair technician.

Cycling thermostat Although this isn't a common problem, one of the thermostats that controls the temperature in your dryer may break and cause the dryer to heat poorly. If so, you need to replace it. The thermostat is usually a small, round, black device mounted to an oblong steel plate. The plate is mounted to the internal ductwork with two screws.

Whirlpool dryer - element heats, then shuts off quickly

Sounds like you have a stopped up vent on your home, when the vent gets stopped up the dryer can't circulate the air properly in the dryer and causes it to get to hot which causes the high limit thermostat to kill power to the element. If you need more help with this visit the link below:
