After using the stove top and all the valves are shut, the igniter continues to click. Not sure which particular one, but I presume the right front, which is the most common used on the stove and the last one used. Shut the power down for about 5 minutes and repowered it still clicking. Is this something I can fix without calling repair man.

Hello,

One of the switches that turn on the spark when the burner is turned on has became stuck so even when the burner is turned off it still thinks its turned on. It very well could be the one for teh right front burner or any of the other 3 switches.
Depending on your mechanical ability its not too hard to figure out which one it is. What ya need to do is remove the panel over the burner valves so ya can get to the switches which slip over the stem of the burner valves and remove them in the off position and use a meter set to measure continuity and check each of the 4 switches when in the off position and see which one has a circuit (continuity) when off..when you figure which one has continuity when off that will be the one that is causing the stove to spark when off. Be sure to check all 4 since more than 1 could be bad.

BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO DO THAT AND CHECK WHICH SWITCH IS BAD BE SURE TO DISCONNECT THE POWER TO THE STOVE

There is this white stuff sold for glass-top stoves. I presume it is good old iron cleaner, a very mild cleaner/polish. Also consider toothpaste.

Wolf gas stove top will not start

All stoves have a gas shut off valve. Make sure your gas dryer still works because you paid your gas bill. Yours might be located under the stove or in the basement.

Gas ignitor keeps trying to ignite after stove is off.

Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly. On your cook-top the gas igniters are cycled on and off by a ceramic and copper switch on the front of each of the gas valves. Some of them are in wired Series ...i.e any burner on will cycle all igniters on the cook top and some of them are in Parallel where individual burners are controlled by each gas burner control knob. Inside these tiny ceramic switches there is a flat thin strip of copper that as the gas valve is rotated a cam of the switch actuates pushes the copper strip against the fixed contact. Those little strips over time either break or get bent and stay against the fixed contact. Hence you have and igniter on when the burner control is off. The only fix is to find out which little ceramic switch on the front of the gas valve is stuck. You do it with an Ohm meter POWER off. They all should read open with the burner controls off. The one that reads continuity across the 2 wires is the bad switch.

Thanks for Choosing FixYa.

Starter clicks but doesn't light burner

either the gas valve for that particular burner isnt opening,or if all burners are like this then the dual valve that feeds the broiler and stovetop has a bad stove top side of valve portion its underneath the oven cavity behind the lower pan drawer

My stove is making strange clicking noises. please help.

It sounds like the ignition knob is stuck in the "ignitor" position. Try taking it off, clean it and adjust it. If that doesn't work, it will have to be replaced with a new one. If yu leave it alone, it will probably wear itself out. Just make sure that the gas valves on the stove are in the off position so that they don't accidentally light on their own. Good luck

Miele KM 3474 stove top lights but turns off after 30 seconds

Does the burner attempt to re-ignite after it goes out? If so, it's probably the therocouple. If not, it could be the burner valve. Be sure the caps and rings are correctly seated on the burners and be sure to firmly press the burner knob down to start the flame.

After cleaning the stove top the 4burners turned into continuous ignite mode

You probably got water under the cooktop while cleaning around the knobs. It causes a short at the 120 volt igniter switches on the shaft of each valve. Unplug the stove for 1 or 2 days and let it dry.

Stove top ignition doesn't stop ticking

My Dacor cooktop had a similar problem of continuously clicking igniters. I unplugged it a couple months ago and used a piezoelectric igniter to get it started. Then I looked in the Dacor FAQ and it said to clean the ceramic igniter posts with alcohol not water. I had to scrape some gunk off a couple of the posts with a knife before cleaning with alcohol. Now it works.'

I think the igniters use electrical conductivity to detect when they need to spark, so even slight invisible contamination on the igniter insulator can confuse the sensing system. Also they all seem to fire as a group, so all of them need to be clean because if any one of them is dirty then they will all malfunction.
