Notes:
1. When I initially purchased that new it was read succesfuly by my PC tower packrd bell, but not from my lap top.
2. Now after all these upgrades they released it is not read by my PC tower as well!
3. When you plug the usb cable, the mp4 player charges normaly, and indicates succesfull usb connection, and the pc makes that sound of plugging in usb things but it is not appearing as a listed device under my computer, nor you can access that through sam med player center.
I am desperate and disappointed...I installed the drivers from cd again and again but nothing....please help me....

I had a similar problem with my Yepp P2.
When plugged into a usb port, it would charge OK, but a popup
message at the bottom of the monitor said that windows could not recognize the device and in the Device Manager, it was listed as an "unknown device"
Here's what I did: If you don't have Windows Media Player 11,
download and install it.Open up the Media Player and click the "Sync" tab. Then plug your P2 into a usb port. Media Player will recognize that a mass storage device has been plugged into the computer.
A window will pop up asking you to name the device. It already has P2 filled in so just click finish.
In a few seconds a mp3 player will show in the Windows Media Player sync panel with P2 under it. It also shows the amount of storage space available on the device. If you click My Computer the P2 should be pictured as an external mass storage device.
Windows Media Player then loaded all of my Windows Media Player songs and playlists onto the P2. And that was it.

I tried this from another site. I totally unplugged my computer. Let it sit for AT LEAST 10 seconds. ( I did mine for about a minute) plugged it back up, turned on the puter and opened up my music stuff (rhapsody) and plugged the player back in. recognized immediately. I don't think you have to open up your music suit, i just did that. I think the key is to unplug the puter. Good Luck and happy holidays!

yeah, same deal, mine isnt recognized by my computer but it charges just fine, have the sofware installed and I was able to put music on it once but now I cant get it to work with my computer
my sansa mp4 sandisk, was not detect on my pc, how to install it? if the drive is can't be detect?
yep i have exactly the same problem but with a dell pc and laptop, after installing update it can't be read on my pc anymore.

My usb cable is a bit loose when i plug it it and it's also a bit wobbley..
The mp3 charges properly but the computer wont connect me with the mp3..
It makes the "plug in" sound followed by the "unplug" sound directly after..
Is it just the usb cable that i need to change?
And if so can someone tell me where i can buy in Canada?
Yea I have same problem. My PC recognized my P2 but my laptop wont. It charges on my laptop and when I plug or unplug my P2 on my laptop it makes the sound but my laptop do not recognize my P2.
