SOURCE: Braun Pulsonic Razor - Pop up trimmer will not retract entirely

I ran into this problem several months ago. I just shook it and forced it until it retracted and never thought anything of it. The trimmer recently broke (still functioned but extended beyond its normal point) and I took it apart. I realized that there were a few broken parts inside (possibly because of my earlier experience). So I removed the few parts and now it still extends to far, but otherwise functions ok if I'm careful.

I would recommend taking yours apart and seeing if you can find any parts floating around which may be causing it to not retract all the way. It may be broken beyond complete repair, but you may be able to get a little more use out of it.

If nothing else, you can order a new casing for it from here

Here are the instructions for taking it apart:

The shaver itself is easy to take apart. The part on the bottom(opposite from the shaver mechanism) pops off with just a slight bit ofprying. Be careful not to break the pins though. Once you have thatoff, the narrow sides pop off pretty easily. Then you can remove the 4screws opening up the interior.

Be careful at this pointbecause there are a lot of parts that may fall out. (Perhaps take apicture as soon as you open it so you know where everything was whenyou opened it). At this point you can try your hand at fixing it (minehad 3 parts broken and loose inside), or you can simply switch it withthe new casing (Which i'm going to do when I get it). Good Luck!

SOURCE: braun 8595 clean and renew

Perhaps the shaver's contact points are not contacting properly. I have this issue as well. Place the shaver in the cleaner-base as normal, then push the shaver in different directions gently then stop/hold for 2 seconds and see if the base then responds to the shaver ... if so then quick/dirty fix is to place a thin object, I use a tooth pick or dental flosser plastic thing and prop the shaver in the direction that works and it solved the problem. Otherwise, a new cleaner-station is needed (more than likely).

SOURCE: disassemble a braun Clean & renew razor cleaner

To open model 8985 you will first need to gently pry off the 'cap' on the bottom that surrounds the hole where the cord plugs in. Once removed the side grips will pull off revealing 4 screws. Remove screws to take off back cover and access insides. Inner parts simply lift out.

If replacement parts are required, you will find all components for this model at shaveroutlet.com

SOURCE: I have a Braun razor,

Try removing the cord from the clean/charge base and plug the cord directly into the bottom of the shaver. If it charges directly from the cord, it is a safe assumption that the clean/charge base is not working correctly.
This unit is not repairable as the problem is, almost certainly, a faulty circuit board. You will need to purchase a replacement.
You will find a replacement clean/charge base for model 8585 at shaveroutlet.com. See link below

How to fix a Braun series 7 razor that will not charge in cleaning stand

I have a Braun 7 series that I use occasionally. The last time I tried to charge was unsuccessful. After several days on the charger still would not charge, I discovered the RESET button right under the Braun name. The charger cable has to be unplugged, then press reset with a paper clip and now works like a charm. Note: reset will not work if charger cable is plugged in.

Hi, My guess is that the battery needs to be replaced with a new one. After many uses the battery will not charge properly any more. (internal discharge) Replace ,Replace ,Replace.

How do I open my Braun 9585 Pulsesonic shaver to replace the battery??

Hello

Remove the electrical cord from the base of the shaver.

Press down and slide off the panel on the front of the shaver.

Remove the two nickel-plated batteries. Use these batteries as a guide to purchase new batteries at a hardware store or home repair store. Recycle the old batteries when finished. (Many hardware and home repair stores have battery-recycling stations.)

Put the new batteries inside the shaver and press gently to pop into place.

Place the front panel back on the shaver and plug the electrical cord into the bottom of the shaver. Connect to an electrical outlet to charge.
