Have knocked the cd drawer out of the drive when I fell over it after leaving it open. Can I put the drawer back into the drive?

cd drawers often jam.
In the cd/dvd drawer you will see a small hole. Use a blunt pin or a straightened-out paper clip, insert it into the small hole and gently press. The drawer should then click open.

Try cleaning the plastic drive teeth/mechanism with a light drop of oil. Press the drawer button and it should then close. Press it again to see if the drawer opens as per normal.

If your cd drive plays a dvd as per normal but doesn't open when the button is pressed, continue using a blunt pin/paperclip. If the plastic open-close mechanism is worn or damaged there's very little you can do about it expect replace the entire drive.

Just solved mine, turn the unit over and give it a shake and knock the underside a few times. I know you shouldn't be treating a delicate piece of hi-fi like this, but the tray comes out of the guide so you're just shakin it back in.

hello, have you tried going into "My Computer" then right clicking on cd drive and click "Eject"? if not, try that.
if you have then take a thin paper clip open up one side of it so its straight.
After you have paper clip straighten up look carefully around the cd rom's eject button and you will notice a tiny hole.
Take the paper clip and keeping it straight slowly and gently insert in the hole and soon you will feel little resistance push it a little bit more and that should eject your CD rom.
if it opens up leave the cd rom open and reboot your laptop once and see if your drive now work normally and ejects the way it should?

If you take a paper clip and straighten it, there is a little hole in the front of the CD drive, push the paper clip into it and your CD drive will get pushed open. This will get a CD out, but will not fix it.

Try re-seating, or connecting a different power cable to the back of the CD drive. Does your PC even recognize that the CD drive is present?

Most of the time the CD drive needs to be replaced.... they are very cheap.

uninstall them from device manager
then restart system found new hardware will run then try the drives again
your drive that won't shut may be broken

This has just happened to us. Often when the changer tries to select a CD on random play, it somehow knocks one CD off the carousel, usually on top of the other 5 CDs and then you can retrieve it easily. This time it knocked it down behind the carousel so the drawer could not close. We left the drawer open, carefully took the player out and tipped it upside down and then tipped it forward. We then closed the drawer while it was still upside down and then turned the player back up the right way. The loose CD fell onto the carousel and we could then open it and retrieve the CD. No damage to either CD or changer and we are now listening to music again!

You broke it. Spend $30 to buy a new CD/DVD reader/writer.

Double check the Ribbon Cable Connector is installed Correctly ( 40-80 Strand IDE ) sometimes if these are not fitted squarely Or pushed in hard enough. Can cause a Problem.
Also try the emergency eject procedure on The Drive. Small jewellers screwdriver Or Needle, insert into the drives faceplate ( pinhole in drives faceplate drawer ) push to open dvd drawer. pull out drawer Gently. And push back in. This ocassionally works for a stcking Drawer/eject mechanism.
Finally try the drive without a disk in ( open/eject Or Close )

Does it have a failing drawer belt? My 522 was fixed after that.
