Hi I have a Sylvania Flat screen. A black and white calibration completed popped up on my screen and the sound went off, and my remote is not working and it wont let me turn it off. I have tried unplugging it, but it pops up to the same screen. I have also changed the batteries in my remote. How do I reset my TV?

There are some defects in the board inside and should only be handled by a qualified service technician.

Most probably the capacitors in the power supply have burst. Might need attention by a qualified service technician.

same thing happened to a tv i let my parents use.. They said it quit working and were gonna throw it out.When i went over there, and turned it on. i found that some one hit the video button on the remote, and the screen went black and there was no sound.. It was just a black screen.even though it was on.when i showed them, they just looked at each other, then blamed the grand kids.

Do one thing press the SCREEN MODE button on the remote repeatedly and check is there is any difference in the screen. If there is no difference then yu tv Have problem wit the T Con board, T con board is on which drives pixels the lcd screen. You can find the T con board of your tv in the following link.
Normally you can find the T con board inside the tv at the bottom center covered by metal cover or aluminum foil. Replacing this board will solve the problem.

My Sylvania 32" just had the entire screen go white. There was still sound but the picture was gone and just the white screen. Any ideas?

Sounds like power board issues, if your able test the voltages coming out of it and see if they are correct

Depends how old the set is, if it is more than 5 years old, time to tell it goodbye, if it is less, might be worth fixing.

I believe the problem is in the vertical output section, it sounds like the picture has shrunk.

try this option , open the unit , look on the PC board , try to locate an inverter transformer ( its square with ferrite coil ) look on the back for a DRY SOLDER around that area , if not then try the POWER SUPPLY also , hope this helps
