I got through to the tech support at Breville and they helped me fix this problem. What they had me do was:

1)Fill the water tank all the way up

2)Turn the power on and wait until the heating light turns off.

3)without coffee in the head turn the machine to espresso mode and let it pump for a minute.

4)after a minute turn to standby for a couple seconds then turn it to steam mode for a minute.

5) after this minute is up turn it back to standby for a couple of seconds and then back to espresso mode.

6) the technician said to do this seven times, but mine started working after three or so. The tech said the fixes about 80 to 90 percent of machines with this problem.

Good Luck!

I had the same problem. I opened up the back and disconnected the water hose from the spring loaded intake hose and put the hose directly into the tube and into the reservoir tank. Now it seems to **** the water in again. Not sure this is the best solution but it seems to work for now.

If someone has a better solution, I'd be happy to hear about it.

Water tank vibrates loose

Try some of the expanding foam insulation in a can. Don't use too much as it expands considerably.

Breville 800esxl,won't stop pumping even in standby.

1- Are you using distilled water? If yes then the machine cannot sense the water level in the boiler.
2- Where is the water that is being pumped going? If it is coming out the drain tray, then the solenoid for the group needs to be replaced.
If it is coming off the top of the boiler, Then the level probe is calling for water, in which case you will have to remove probe and clean with a wire brush.

Breville 800esxl won't extract coffee or steam milk.

is your machine new or is this a new problem? If you have had the machine for a while there is a possibility that your double wall filter is clog between the walls which would prevent the water from going through (this happens when your grind is too fine). If however the water does not go through when you do not have a filter in the basket than you have a diferent problem.

FixmeBob Great help with Breville 800esxl

I had a similar problem, but no blinking light, only cold coffee. I tapped on the relay (black box on circuit board) and violá.  Red light, hot coffee, and happiness.  The machine did the same thing a couple of weeks after the "fix", and a good slap to the left side, and I was back in business.  My guess is that your switch is bad or sticking.  Good luck.
