SOURCE: nordictrack apex4100i level incline will not work

Try this calibration procedure.
Turn the power switch on. Remove the safety key. Hold the Stop and Speed Up or Speed Plus buttons down then insert the safety key.
The display should show some numbers.
Press the stop key one time and the display should show some other numbers and some 00's. Press the Incline Up button and see if the Incline begins to move, if it does let it go all the way up and then all the way down, wait a few seconds after it stops, then hit the stop key 4 times. It should be calibrated. If it didn't move then the board or the incline motor is bad.

SOURCE: Nordictrack motor will not run when start button is pushed.

Likely the cover of one of the motor brushes popped off. Unplug the machine before you pop it back in place, then try it again.

If that doesn't work, most likely it's the motor control board, or possibly the console, or finally just a loose connection behind the console.

But most likely, it's the motor brush cover. I've been seeing that alot with this model.

Sounds like the actual function pad is causing the problem in some cases you'll be able to purchase that part and sometime with iconfitness you have to buy the entire console for a hefty amount you may call them @ 1-800-999-3756 or go to their website iconfitness.com. Good Luck

1. You may have a worn belt and deck problem ( #1 problem on treadmills ). Test by the following procedure:
a) without the power on stand on the walking belt
b) push the belt in the direction it normally turns
c) if the belt is very difficult to turn (on most treadmill) this means that you have high belt/deck friction.

You must physically inspect the belt and deck. The deck should be smooth. The belt should have a consistent feel from side to side (a belt can be worn out without any sensory signs of a problem). If you feel deep grooves in the deck or uneven wear on the underside of the belt, part replacement is necessary. Continued use of your treadmill may damage expensive electrical components. If their is no signs of excessive wear then the next step is to lubricate the deck follow this procedure:

Before applying lubricant, the belt must have the tension reduced and cleaned deck. Loosen the tension roller by following the instructions in your owner’s manual. Do not loosen the bolts in the tension roller too far or the bolts will come out of the roller shaft. This step may not be necessary for your treadmill model or belt and deck condition.
Contaminants are the worst enemy of your belt and deck. Some treadmills may have an excessive accumulation of dirt and contaminants. If these are trapped during the belt lube process, significant damage will occur. Lift the belt and slide a moist towel between belt and deck, slide the towel the length of the unit to catch the contaminants do this a number of times inspect towel and need be use a fresh towel and repeat cleaning let dry then apply the lube in the center upper third of deck then start unit and walk on it @ 1-2mph for about 5 min. You may purchase the lube from National Gym Supply @ gympart.com Part# TM001 or call them @ 1-800-496-7278 their on the west coast. At this point I believe your problem should be resolved if the above procedures have taken care of problem take a look at the next step, as mentioned the #1 cause of treadmill failure is lack of maintenance of the belt and deck.

On occasion, you may have already damaged the DC board if you have high belt/deck friction. If the belt walks freely, you have a different problem.

2. If it passes the belt/deck checks, you may have a DC board output problem. If the belt tests ok and you have a speed variation, try this test:

  1. Set the speed to 2.5 MPH. Let the treadmill run without anyone on the belt. Check to see if the speed is constant or if there is a variation.
  2. If there is no variation, step on the belt. If the speed slows down or speeds up, you may have an output problem on the DC board. This is the board that connects directly to the motor. Check the speed sensor if it is a magnetic sensor unit ( Under motor shroud usually attached on the left hand side of frame with 1/8' clearance between sensor and front roller pulley) you can test continuity with a multi meter or replace with a new part to test. Many times passing a kitchen magnet in front of the signal will make a speed display on the console if the magnetic sensor is good.

SOURCE: NordicTrack T5.3 belt stopped working. It's only 1

HI, its seems like the belt on the motor has either slipped off, or you just need to tighten it. best way to find out is to take off the front pannel showing the motor. then stand on the treadmill. start it and you will see the problem.

Nordictrack 5.7 buttons don't work

Call the 800 number on the front of your owner's manual (downloadable at iconservice.com) for service. Most likely your console is shot. It is easy to swap out, but costs a little bit. Also, make sure your safety key is on. Consoles do not operate without that little red key in the front.

I have a nordictrack audiostrider 800 that i just replaced the console. now the resistance won't work. thoughts?

The way to tell if your NordicTrack digital console is bad is to troubleshoot it first. If nothing works, you've got a bad console. The digital console is an important part of exercising. A manual machine will still work even if the console doesn't, but an automated machine needs the console to work so you can adjust things like speed, resistance and incline. You also can't use programs or see your time, distance or estimated calories burned without a working console. The two most common reasons that a console will be dim, display bad results, or won't turn on are bad batteries and a problem with the reed switch.

  1. Replace the Batteries
    • 1 Replace the batteries first, if your machine has batteries. A manual machine such as the NordicTrack MTN 740 will not need batteries, and instead the console is powered by your moving the steps. Check your manual if you are unsure of which batteries to buy. Different machines will require different batteries. The NordicTrack Mini Stepper uses watch batteries, but larger machines will likely need AA or D batteries.
    • 2 Take off the cover to the battery compartment. Remove and discard the old batteries. Replace all of the batteries, not just one if you happen to have one good one. Align them correctly with the "+" and "-" signs as shown on the compartment.
    • 3 Replace the battery cover and attempt to turn on the console.
    Reset the Circuit Breaker
    • 1 Check the circuit breaker. A machine such as the NordicTrack CXT 990 will have a circuit breaker located on the front of the machine. The console will not work if the circuit breaker is tripped.
    • 2 Push the circuit breaker in if it protrudes until it sticks.
    • 3 Try to turn on the console. Check the circuit breaker for your house if this does not fix the console problem.
    Adjust the Reed Switch
    • 1 Inspect the reed switch as the information on the display will not be true if the reed switch is too far from the flywheel on NordicTrack machines such as the MTN 740.
    • 2 Unscrew the two M10 by 82mm button bolts on the right pedal bracket. Unscrew the two M10 nylon locknuts. Pull off the pedal bracket and set aside.
    • 3 Remove the two M4 by 38mm screws. Remove the three M4 by 25mm screws. Slide the right side shield off to expose the flywheel, magnet reed switch.
    • 4 Unscrew the screw that holds the reed switch in place but do not remove it. Slide the reed switch toward the flywheel but leave enough space that the magnet can move freely. Replace the shield and bracket

Cant close my nordic track a2050.... its stuck open...not very space friendly

Does it close part-way? If so, it might be the same thing that happened to me. Make sure the incline is at zero. It will not close if the walkway is raised.

If that doesn't work, you might try disconnecting the incline motor screw (held in by a retaining pin and cotter pin), turning the screw one or two rotations and reconnecting it. I've had to do that in the past, but I'm sure it is not an approved solution.
