Hi: I got this TV from my neighbor for just a few hundred dollars. It's in like new condition inside and out. Great deal! I've been reading about monitoring the bulb life through a built in counter on various forums but cannot find how to do this in the manual. Can you please help? Thank you. Regards, Robert

SOURCE: Put new bulb in hitachi
hey there it sounds like the problem is coming from your ballast board, the ballast board is the power source to the lamp. with time this part starts to wear out and get weak your old lamp is already burning out there for it does not need that much voltage to turn on but the new lamp has not been worn out or used there for it needs the ballast to be working at 100%
hope this solution helps
SOURCE: how do you reset the
For models:
PT-44LCX65/PT-52LCX65/PT-61LCX65/PT-52LCX15.
1) Make sure the TV is on.
2) While pressing and holding down VOL DOWN button on the TV, press and hold down the SPLIT DVD/VCR CH UP button on the remote until a message appears on the screen that the lamp timer has been reset. If this does not work, use SPLIT DVD/VCR CH DOWN instead.
Good luck

I have a 50V525E and I have the same problem....My bulb is suppose to be a LM500 and I received a P22 Phillips (And I did check their web site and that is the bulb they recommend), and like you said...The 4 little glass tabs will not allow the bulb to sit flat in the housing.....
I am waiting for the vendor to answer my inquiry...But I recommend to anyone ordering a bulb...Ask if it is Phillips, and if it is...stay away.

To reset the lamp timer, turn the TV on first. Now hold VOL DOWN on the TV and MUTE on the remote until a message appears on the screen about the lamp timer being reset. Make sure the remote is pointed toward the TV to receive the signal.
