Re: I have a lenovo g550 295895q model ....and i forgot...
Follow these steps: Restart your computer in MS- DOS mode. When you get to the C:\> or C:\WINDOWS> prompt, type DEBUG and press Enter.A hyphen (-) prompt will appear waiting for you to enter commands. Enter the following commands, pressing Enter after each one. Note: the o is the letter o and stands for OUTPUT. o 70 2 e o 71 ff q After the q command (which stands for QUIT) , enter Exit. Then try to enter your BIOS at bootup. The password prompt should now be gone and you should now have full access to it again. However, you will now be at the default BIOS setttings and may want to change them to your preference.

BIOS password problems I forgot my password. • If you forget your user password, you must ask the system administrator to reset your user password. • If you forget your HDD password, a Lenovo authorized servicer cannot reset your password or recover data from the hard disk. You must take your computer to a Lenovo authorized servicer or a marketing representative to have the hard disk drive replaced. Proof of purchase is required, and a fee will be charged for parts and service. • If you forget your administrator password, a Lenovo authorized servicer cannot reset your password. But in my own way of troubleshooting.
1. open your Lenovo G500
2. Check your motherboard and look for bios/cmos battery.
3. Remove the battery
4. Get flat screw driver then put it between two pins where the cmos battery attached.
5. Hold it for 10 to 15 sec.
6. Put the cmos battery back and the motherboard
7. Power it up and holla the bios setting has been reset to default.
If it's a "Power up" password this can be removed by briefly dosconnecting the cmos battery from the system board. If it is the "Supervisor" password either send to Lenovo for replacement system board and hard drive (not covered under warranty) or send to me and I will return unlocked :-) [email protected] Regards Paul.
Which password have you forgotten? If it is the Power On password this can be reset by briefly removing the connection from the system board to the cmos battery. If it is the Supervisor password you can either send it to Lenovo for a replacement system board and hard drive or send to me and I will return with password removed. [email protected] Regards Paul
Hello,
If you forgot your BIOS password,do not worry, you can reset your system back without requesting a BIOS password,Simply unscrew your laptop and get the motherboard of your laptop, locate the CMOS battery on the motherboard and remove for sometime for the battery to discharge say 4-10minutes,or better still if you can locate the jumpers for the BIOS and reset it,the BIOS password will be removed. It is the battery that keeps the BIOS chip alive by suppling it power,if power is not supplied to this chip, then the information on it will be lost.
So, remove the battery for some minutes or reset your BIOS jumper on the motherboard
WISH YOU THE BEST.
1. The BIOS password can be reset with the CMOS.
2. The Supervisor password cannot.
3. The HD password cannot.
If it's the harddrive that's locked you will have to replace that. If it's the Supervisor password you need to replace the system board which kind of defeats your purpose.
This is an excerpt form the service manual for this exact model of notebooks:
If you forgot your power-on password, you must take your computer to a Lenovo authorized servicer or a marketing representative to have the password canceled. If you forgot your hard disk password, Lenovo authorized servicer can not reset your password or recover data from the hard disk. You will need to reset the cmos battery if you forogot the bios password- you must take the cmos attery off the motherboard and then power it on and turn it back off and replace the cmos battery.
Sorry, there isn't a way to get past the password other than to contact Lenovo. Resetting the CMOS will do nothing. They will ask for proof of ownership before they do anything. I believe they have a "backdoor" password.
what OS are you using?
