Looks like it is the problem with the DVD disc / media source. Replace the disc with another disc. Last but not least.. why dont you try connecting the DVD player and TV via HDMI cable? Sometimes older cables may cause video drops .. just guessing anyway!.
Just start from the beginning as if you just bought it. Start with Install and let the set do the rest. Watch the screen for any questions that may require an answer or an Enter command and that should do it.
Take in consideration that some cable companies moved some digital stations to a pay plan and you might not get them in HD. The digital stations you get after programming wil be it, unless you upgrade to a different plan.
get your freeview to do a search for an update of the channels, then it will pick up those that are missing.If it does not then check the signal reception as this may be the cause of it to lose these channels..Try somethng like high efficiency antenna with an internal booster.
usually the universal remote comes with a code book. if you're TV is not on it the remote won't work. But most TV's are on there. If you can't find the TV, go to the ORIGINAL COMPANY of the TV. (RCA, Samsung, etc.)
Try plugging the power cable out for the night. If it doesn't solve it there's probably a problem with the power supply that needs professional care.
