if you cant remember setting a password or security key for this it may be the
default password of the router itself which is normally written on the base of the router
This isn't too hard if you take it one step at a time.
.
First, get your user guide or download it from here.
Log on to your router per the instructions on page 14 with "Contacting your Router"
Skip to page 16 and perform step 1
Click on SECURITY and skip to page 19.
To keep this easy, choose WEP, Key 1, and generate the key.
WRITE DOWN KEY #1 as you will need this when you connect your PC. Click APPLY.
.
Your router is now secure. When you try to connect your wireless PC it shoud now bring up the security screen. Change the security scheme to WEP, key #1 and type in the code from step 6.
.
Good luck!
The security key is the router's encryption key. The WEP, WPA, WPA2
encryption key is in your router's wireless settings. Log into your router and
got to the wireless settings, you will need to get the SSID and the encryption
key. Then go to your computer/laptop's wireless card and configure it with the
router's SSID and encryption key, so it will then connect to the wireless router
and the Internet.
Hi, Security key in side the router. To get the key you need to access the routers web interface. Please follow the steps below on a wired pc. A pc which is directly connected with the netgear router using an Ethernet cable. 1. Open internet explorer and in the address box type http://192.168.0.1 and press enter. It should ask you a user name and password. User name is admin and password is the word password. click on login or ok. If you don’t get user name and password window with http://192.168.0.1 and try http://192.168.1.1 or http://routerlogin.net 2. Click on wireless settings on the left hand side. 3. Under the security section if the security is wep then note down the key one and this is the security key you need. If the security is something else then you wont be able to see the security key it will ******. In this i'll suggest you to change the security key to wep, encryption should be 64 bit and authentication type should be open. In the security key one box you need to type in the security key, The lenght of the key should be 10, you can only use a-f and 0-9. For example 123abc567f. and save the settings. Try connecting on the wireless pc. Note: if you change the security key then you need to connect all the wireless devices with the new key. Hope this helps you! Rashish.
If you hook your PC directly to the router using an Ethernet cable you don't need the key. You can log into the router and change the WEP Key to anything you want, but u have to be directly connected to the router not going through the wireless.
You need to log into the wireless router either by a computer that successfully connects wirelessly or by physically connecting with an ethernet cable. Once connected, log into the router by open a web browser (Internet Explorer, MozillaFirefox, Google Chrome, Apple Safari), and typing the router's address (usually 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1) into the Address (or URL) line. The default usernameand password is usually "admin" & "admin" or "admin" & "password". Once successfully logged in, look for a tab or link that says "Wireless" or "Security". You'll be able to change whether security is enabled or disabled, and the password associated with it. Your security options are WEP or WPA (or WPA-PSK). WPA-PSK is the most secure, but WEP is also an acceptable choice. Select the security option of your choice and either enter text into the passphrase generator or choose your own password and type it into one of the security key text fields. If you use a password that is not a plain english combination of letters and numbers, be sure to write it down so that you can enter it as needed on other wireless devices that need to access your router (ie-pda phones, game consoles, laptops, desktops, etc). Be sure to save changes so that the security settings and password is saved. Let me know how you make out.
You may need to verify the wireless security enabled in your router. Check from your router's setup page the security type and security key enabled in it to connect your wireless printer.

Are you going to connect your PS3 wired to your router or wireless? 1. check first if ps3 is working behind rca modem. 2. then connect a pc directly to your linksys router 3. open configuration page of linksys by typing your gateway on your browser. (usually it is by default 192.168.1.1) 4. go to applications and gaming tab 5. you'll find there port forwarding..key in your number there > i guess your numbers are like 88 and 3764 (something like that) 6. if your trying to connect your playstation wirelessly, you need to know your wireless security (if your router is secured). > go to wireless tab and look for wireless security > get your key 7. go back to playstation and try to view your wireless network > connect and type in your key
