Some older tv's you need the remote to switch the input mode,
most tv's your can simply go threw the chanel up and down and av Will be in between channels? Hope this helps?
Playstation 3's will not output display information via usb, it does although have a traditional Playstation style connector port for displaying via component cable/ AV cable. To switch to this display setting without having access to an HDMI television press and hold the power button until the PS3 beeps for a second time. Pressing once it will beep but continue holding until the device beeps again and it will boot into a display "safe mode" and ask you to verify your display settings.
There is button on your remote labeled TV/AV . Press the button to get a blank screen with AV written on the screen. If your game device is connected at the back to this AV socket ( Yellow / Red / White ) you will see the game menu display. On some of the TV remotes it might not be written TV/AV but INPUT SOURCE or just a picture of a TV screen with an arrow pointing inwards ( that LOGO is the universal symbol for INPUT )
Make sure the AV Cable is connected to the [AV MULTI-OUT] port on the back of the PLAYSTATION 3 system.
Connect the other end of the AV Cable into the yellow Composite
port for video, and into the white and red audio ports (if your TV does
not have the red port, simply ignore it) on the back of your TV.
While the PLAYSTATION 3 system is in standby mode (red light on the
front of the system), hold down the touch-sensitive On/Off button on
the front of the system until the system goes into standby mode again .
(So the light cycle would go from: red light to --> green light
--> then back to red light) This will ensure that you have held
down the On/Off button long enough to reset the Video Output Settings.
Turn ON the PLAYSTATION 3 and once the system finishes powering up,
the Video Output Settings will automatically be reset to the standard
resolution (or detect the current display output settings of your
TV/monitor).
If you are using the Yellow, Red and White cables I believe you have to put your tv into AV mode. There should be a button the the remote or sometimes there is one on the tv
you cannot control a ps3 with that remote because the playstation 3 only works with bluetooth. I'm sorry to have to tell you. you can purchase a remote that works with your system at any that sells your system.
In many cases by connecting the DVD via a scart cable (depending in what country you live in if your system supports it)
the dvd will send a signal to the TV to switch over to RGB mode when you start playing the dvd. Rember to make sure the scart connectors are firmly pressed into their sockets on both tv and dvd.
Also if you found out how to switch channels directly on the TV try to go through them ...you might find the AV channel that will show the picture from your dvd.
I have the opposite problem. I don't have the remote, it broke, and I'm stuck on channels when I want to play a game. How do I fix that without the remote?!
