Dear Sir We rely on an external contractor to backup our data. We need to retrieve the data and got this reply: " [...] I have just been down to the computer room and checked. Your data backup is spread over 37 AIT5 tapes. The only way to generate a full listing is to read all tapes. At one a day I can give you a listing in approx 6weeks time. [...]" One day to get the listing, is that believable? Thanks in advance. Best regards Eduardo

These tape cartridges are very slow to read & write. if u r reading a set of data & need to go back for certain data u have to rewind & wait & watch until that data area arrives. it takes a lot of time. in order to save time u need optical disk drives & dvds to backup your data. u can also ask them to convert your tape cartridge data into optical disks.

Thanks for your answer. I would like to have the listing of the contents (without actually read the data). Get the listing is so time consuming?
    Best regards
    Eduardo

if only the listing is to be viewed then it may not take that much of time but again it depends on how long is the listing on each tape.

Recover Deleted Photos From iPhone 6

It can be most aggravating when an important photograph is accidentally deleted. If you have an iPhone 6, then thankfully, there are a few options available for flv files recovery from this device. Remember, it is good practice to back-up your photographs every now and again by saving them onto an external storage device.
One of the first things to do in trying to retrieve deleted photos from an iPhone 6, is to open the Photos app on your smartphone. Once you have done that, do the following steps:
1.Select the "Albums" menu.
2.Select the album that you need and then select "Recently Deleted."
3.A list of all the recently deleted photos will appear.
4.Select the ones that you want and then tap on the "Recover" button to recover all the photographs that you selected.
5.All restored photographs will be sent to the album in which they were originally located.
If the photographs that were deleted were backed up in iTunes or iCloud, they can also be recovered. The important thing to remember is to have either iCloud or iTunes backup turned on at all times. If you are unsure how to do so, here's how:
1.Go to the "Settings" menu then select "iCloud."
2.Under "iCloud", select "Storage and Backup."
3.Then turn on the "iCloud Backup" feature on your iPhone 6.
4.As long as your iCloud backup is up-to-date, then all your photos can be easily restored to your iPhone 6 in case of accidental deletion.

Backing up your photographs to iTunes is equally as easy as backing them up to iCloud. However, once you connect your iPhone 6 to your computer or iPad, you need to ensure that iCloud is turned off; you can back-up to one or the other but not both apps at the same time.
If your photos have been deleted, then recovering your duplicate photos from iTunes backup or iCloud backup is not a problem. Simply launch iCloud or iTunes, right click on iPhone (the device in question), select "Summary", and then select either "Restore from iCloud Backup or "Restore from iTunes Backup." Once that is done, wait for "Restore in Progress" to complete and your device restarted.
When all else fails, a reliable data recovery software can be used to recover deleted photos from an iPhone 6. uFlysoft is one such user-friendly software that gets the job done quickly and thoroughly. The process is simple and takes these easy steps:
1.First, connect your iPhone 6 to your Mac computer then launch the uFlysoft data recovery software. You never want to launch a data recovery software directly from the smartphone from which you are trying to recover lost or deleted data.
2.Select the "Recover from iOS Device" option.
3.The software will then scan your device and present all the recovered photographs for you to preview.
4.The recovered photos can then be saved to any storage device or the computer itself.

Why you do not save all hard drive data on other places before you try to do your stuffs?
So, just learn a lesson to make data backups on several drives in the future.
But, now, to rescue your drive data, you should firstly try some drive data recovery software and see whether your drive data is still recoverable, like:
http://freeware-fix.blogspot.com/2013/03/external-drive-data-recovery.html
Simply scan this hard drive thoroughly and take your needed videos and files back as many as possible.
Good luck!

How to Retrieve Deleted Contacts from a BlackBerry?

To retrieve deleted contacts from the call log is a simple task that can be achieved by accessing the call log on the BlackBerry handset. However, if the deleted entry wasn't listed on your call log, BlackBerry Desktop software is the only solution for you. It's a tool for backing up and restoring phone data to your computer. According to BlackBerry, you must regularly back up files to your computer so you can recover device data if it ever gets lost, stolen or corrupted. To recover the deleted contacts using the latter method, you must already have the backup file saved on your PC.
Instructions
Retrieving an Unsaved Contact
1. Hold down the "ALT" key on your BlackBerry. 2. Type "LGLG." 3. Press "Menu" > "Options." 4. Scroll down into the events list, and press "Menu." 5. Select "Hide All Types." 6. Scroll down the list, and highlight the "PhoneApp" option. 7. Press "Menu." 8. Select "Toggle Filter." 9. Select "Menu" and choose "Save." Now all calls and numbers dialed from your phone will be shown to you. You will have to do a lot of digging to find the particular deleted number you're looking for. When you find it, select the particular entry to see the full number.
Retrieving Contacts through Backup
1. Connect your BlackBerry to the computer through its USB data cable. 2. Launch BlackBerry Desktop software with which you had backed up your data earlier. Go to "Start" and search for the "BlackBerry Desktop" program. 3. Click the "Device" tab on the application window. 4. Click "Restore." Select a backup file that contains the contacts that are to be restored. You will find contacts under the "Organizer" tab. Simply check the box next to "Contacts." 5. Click "Restore." The deleted contacts will then be restored, after which you can disconnect the USB cable.
External high-rpm backup drives: BEWARE of complete data loss

Please know that if you are depending on an external HD with high rpm (like 5600 or 7200 rpm) to back up your precious files with a USB connection, you may lose everything if you happen to drop the external drive from a height of 1". The thing will start to make wierd sounds. If you haven't backed up your data to conventional disks, unplug it immediately to minimize self-destruction. Professional data recovery for these drives is not guaranteed, and will cost at least $300, possibly $1500. A few makers guarantee shockproofing (like a drop from 8 feet) , but they are more costly. Don't rely on one of these as your real back-up, or doom may await your data. I personally like an online backup for a monthly fee--that way, if your house burns down along with your data and backups, you can recover everything. Mosy, for example, charges around $5/month for unlimited backup of data (not programs).
