Have a year old lg dehumidifier and a code of 01 appears in the window and will not start.

The Error Code 01, indicates that the air intake filter needs to be removed and cleaned.

Error Code '1' indicates that the air intake filter needs to be removed and thoroughly cleaned. be sure to turn the unit OFF and unplug it, before removing the filter. Never operate the unit without the filter in place. Doing so, could cause damage to the unit.

Your model Kenmore Dehumidifier, I believe was was made my Haier, for Sears under the Kenmore name. In which case "01" indicates a circuit failure shutdown and needs to be repaired by an authorized Sears service technician. As it may still be in warranty.

if it still runs,but collects no water,its low on refrigerant R-134a this is very common on units 2 to 3 years old,but to get a top off of refrigerant(which is LEGAL) it can be very expensive,I usually just install a bullet piercing valve on the hi and low side and top it off,as this is a cheaper way than pulling it completely down and finding the leak because it most likely will need it again in a year or two

Approached unit with air of trained appliance repair professional. Found Chinese-made product of vastly inferior quality, began series of tests, moving on to systematic disassembly finally sledgehammering the unit thence noting it failed to improve performance. resolved to not buy junk made in China or elsewhere. I've been "fix-ya'd" all right! Over and out.

If you do not live near a service center they may ship you a replacement and you send your old dehumidifier back to them. Make sure you have your reciept when you contact them so they can verify it is 1 year old.

I just now noticed this posting even though it is now November. I will post this in case you still have the dehumidifier & haven't solved the problem yet, or for those who may be searching for a solution later.

The 01 code & the blinking light indicates that the defrost sensor is probably shorted. Replace the sensor assembly with part #6877A30013L. It includes the humidity sensor & defrost thermistor & plugs onto the main circuit board for an easy repair. Sears lists it on their website for 9.99 + shipping.

compressor may be starved for freon or blockage in freon line...tech must troubleshoot.
