DVD-V3500 DVD player works fine the VHS does not display

Until last night our DVD - VCR combo was fine. Then one of us tried to adjust the tracking using the tracking buttons on the remote. After that with all VHS tapes all we get is a "No Signal" message on the screen. The audio comes through for a second and then goes out again. We have been hitting the track buttons to see if we can somehow undo what happened with no success so far. it is not a physical connection problem because the DVD player displays nicely on our TV. When we hit the stop button, the display shows that we have hit the stop button. So it looks more like some kind of a synch problem but I am stuck at this point. I would highly appreciate any help.

The manual for my DVD-V3500 says that you can't record from DVD to the VCR. But, can you record from the VCR to a DVD?

In short, no. Not with this unit on its own. No function for recording from or copying to DVDs exists with this brand/model.

A separate DVD recorder is required. I don't know of anyone who records DVDs to tape these days.

You are correct; the manual states clearly you cannot record from the DVD deck in this machine, which is a bit unusual, considering other brands of combos such as LG, SONY and PANASONIC offered an input (which was between channels or could be selected via remote) to allow DVD to VHS recording within the one unit.

I would presume you can connect this combo to the input of a DVD recorder, play a videotape and it will work via cables. DVDs last longer than tapes anyway.

On some of the DVD/VCR combo units, the VCR output is only available through the RF jack (channel 3), standard video1.gif (yellow) RCA jack and S-VIDEO jack. If you are using the Component jacks, the DVD side will work but the VCR will not. This is because the quality of video recorded on VHS tapes is so much lower than component quality video.
Thank you for rating this solution.

No picture while playing DVD or VHS tape

Your unit has it seems to have developed a video problem. it could be in the video switching IC or the video processor. Its going to need a trained technician, who knows how to use an ocilliscope to find the video problem.. Good Luck
