F9 error maytag super capasity advance cooking system oven. i had a power outage last ning oven came back on and lock up with a f 9 error. it will not cancel. it acted like it wanted me to use the self cleaning system so i did last night. it still will not allow me to open the door and oven is cooled off. i also un pluged the oven for several hours but error f 9 still comes back on.

An F9 error code on a General Electric (GE) oven indicates that the oven's electronic control system has detected a problem with the automatic door lock. The automatic door lock mechanism prevents the oven door from being opened when the oven is set for "Clean" mode. The malfunction may be a jammed door lock mechanism, a pinched or broken wire, a faulty lock switch or a fault in the control board itself

F9 is a door lock error and to solve this issue you can hold the light switch for 15 seconds, this will reset the control. If it won't work then hold the light switch in and set the unit to clean and after a minute press cancel to cancel the clean cycle. If still it won't work then the door lock assembly should be replaced. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

The F9 error code indicates a problem with the oven door lock assembly. The door lock assembly will need to be checked and replaced if defective. If the door lock assembly is okay, then the electronic oven control board will need to be replaced.

first check that the latch is not a 1/4 or so closed.
open and close the latch a few times.
also you can turn off the breaker for a few minutes
and see if it resets the ecm.

Had the same problem. How I fixed it, was by using a very thin, and I mean really thin, flat tip screw driver and a flash light. Unplug the stove. Use the flash light to look at the very top of the oven door. You should see in the air vent slats a silver hook. Use the screw driver to go through the vent slats and push the lock open. Now, you should be able to open your door. But we arent done yet. With the door open, plug the stove back in. Close the door and wait for the F9 to flash. Now open your door, and on the right side you should see a tiny peg sticking out on the open oven. Its for the light to come on when the oven door is open and also to let the oven know the door is ajar. Push it in and wait. The door latch circuit should reset like normal, and you will see the latch move back into its normal open position. Which resets the F9 error and allows you once again to use your oven like normal.

this Fault code F 9 is door latch supervisory .. you need to ck door circuit or replace clock assembly . also called the e r c ) .. this will in most services turn out to be the clock . the clock tells the latch what to do and its doing it . but i would ck the latch first .this part is much less costley .. m.m.

My Maytag , advanced Cooking system , super capacity gas stove has a problem with the oven. It looks like it lights, but most often, doesn't heat up, and I can sometimes smell gas. Anyone know what what cause this?

2. Door Lock Warning Check door lock circuit or Replace Clock
Try pressing and holding the door latch to unlock position and then press cancel for a few seconds. The latch should return to its original position.
