If the fan is simply humming but not turning over take the back cover off and make sure the blower piece is free turning. i used to have a dehumidifier(goldstar similar model long sold though) it had a bad thermal fuse in the fan motor but compressor worked perfect. bolt is i think 10mm and i had to peel the tape off of the motor windings to get at the fuse. soldered new one in(p/o gave me new fuse and 10 bucks to get it out of his hair what a deal:) ) and retaped the windings. also the felt bearings may be loose but i just lubed the front and back bearing housings well with syn-lube(valvoline for brakes) and reassembled. baby oil works wonders so does vasoline but due to heat that trick does not last long before making a racket and leaves a **** on the assemblies underneath(mess) so try the high temp lube or any moly based brake lube

Very loud vibration when the fan runs.

Hello,

With the unit unplugged, open the cover and check the alignment of the fan. If the fan is stuck or rubbing against the fan cowling, adjust the fan motor's mounting hardware so that the fan turns freely.

Good luck.

Dedumidifyer stopped working. still plugged in PIN# is 3850A20500h

99% of the time, (if compressor still runs), the fan is stuck with dust, or just needs oiling on BOTH ends of the fan motor shaft.
the other 1% will be because your water reservouir presence sensor/switch is not being activated by incomplete insertion of reservouir, or malfunctioning switch.

FAN RUNS ALL THE TIME. COMP RUNS FOR 3 MINS THEN OFF FOR 3 THEN ON FOR 3.....

You could be overcharged or undercharged with refrigerant, a dirty condenser or evaporator coil or fan or blower motor not running at full speed, or you could have a dirty filter or or possibly a bad capacitor on the compressor.

Won't shut off when setpoint reached / full switch works

Your unit may be designed to run the fan continuously despite the fact that the room has reached the set humidity level. This design feature is intended to keep the air moving which helps mildew problems in both the room and on the surfaces of the dehumidifier itself. Check your manuel.

When I press the on button, I hear a constant humming, no turning of the fan.

Shut the power off to the unit, spin the fan blade to see if it spins freely. If it doesn't spin freely, (there appears to be a little drag when you spin it),the bearings are bad, if it does spin freely, then try moving the motor shaft from side to side if there’s any play in the shaft side to side then the bearings are worn and motor needs replaced. Then, check the capacitor, if it’s bulging even slightly, the capacitor is bad and needs replaced. Most of the time people replace the capacitor if motor seems ok. If capacitor is ok, turn power on to see if the motor is getting the proper voltage, if it is and not trying to run, then the windings are probably open, the motor's bad and needs replaced.

Compressor runs, overheats and shuts down..fan does not run...

I have had the same problem. Following the advice of someone on these pages I opened the machine up and checked the fan with a meter. On my model (the 404) it has two settings so two leads; one seemed okay, the other was dead. I checked the circuit where the fan connector plugs in and I got that both speed settings were supplying plenty of juice. Apparently the fan motor is dead. A replacement runs $79 at http://www.appliancefactoryparts.com/. I ordered one; we'll see what happens.
