Hi, Oh no!!!!!!, my blade has seized up and left little black bits of the gasket right under the blade in the jar. Can I get this gasket? We bought this absolute AWESOME Blender at the Home Show here in Minneapolis, Minn. I can not live without it. Yes, I need kinda immediate attention because it is harvest time and I will be preparing horseradish and other stuff from the garden. Thank you for your time, Shirley J Rice 115035 115th Ave Osakis, Minn 59360

The bearing and seal are not replaceable. The bearing is sonically welded into thte base of the jar. The K-Tec is made by Blend-Tec, and any of the Blend-Tec jars will work as a direct replacement.

SOURCE: I have a K-TEC HP3

Usualy there is a rubber ring araound the bottom of the blade. If it gets worn out or out of posistion it may start to leak. Also if you dont have everything screwed in tight enought it could leak as well

Why doesn't blade spin?

Either the coupling from the motor with the fingers on it is not really attached to the motor shaft or the drive on the blade that engages with it is not attached to the blade shaft. One other thing is that on some models if the rubber jar seal between the beaker and the blade carrier is in the wrong place it can raise the blade drive to not engaging properly with the motor coupling. The gasket goes between the jar and the blade carrier, not under the blade carrier.

Blender glass jar is leaking at base

It will either be the rubber gasket (it goes between the glass jar and the blade assy) or it could be a worn bearing/bush around the chopping blade shaft. Replace either the gasket or the blade assy.

Leaks from the bottom of the glass jar. Bought a new gasket and it is worse than ever.

Are you sure you are installing the gasket correctly?

Leaks are usually the result of a misaligned or cross-threaded blender jar base or from the gasket being installed incorrectly. Make sure the gasket is installed between the blade assembly and the screw on base.

If this does not help, please reply or repost.

Why does my blender leak?

hi,

sounds like the bearing assembly went, right where the motor connects to the blade, you can get a replacement base from them, have to find the model number and go to their website. doubt you burnt it up. cuisinarts supposedly are commercial quality.

Blender seems to run right until you put glass jar on.runs very slow.

Hi,
Disassemble the base from the jar, and check the placement of the gasket. Reassembly, with the jar upside down is gasket, blades, then base. While disassembled, rotate the blades by hand just to make sure that they aren't in a bind. Replace if defective.

KSB5600BO kitchenAid blender blades broke and l am looking to replace them but I can't find the right parts. Do I need to just by the whole Jar assembly?

You don't need to replace the entire jar assembly. Have you tried to contact Kitchensid. They make high quality appliances and will probably send you new blades for $0.

Blender container leaks even though gasket is in place

Hey, I know this is an old thread but just had the same problem and solved it. With the blender container upside down, place the gasket on the jar hole, put the blade through the hole on top of the gasket, then screw the plastic base on top of that.

The way I had done it before was to pop the blade into the bottom of the plastic base first then screw it onto the gasket and jar but it goes on the gasket, not under the bottom of the base. Hope that helps anyone else in the future.

Also just read the manual instructions like I didn't, clear as day right there but I never bothered to read them ha

Unit began smoking and smelled hot

If this was a recent purchase for which you have a receipt, return it to the store immediately while you still can. If it is beyond the store's return policy, but purchased less than one year ago (most times you will still need a receipt), call Black and Decker to get in-warranty service/replacement.

In fact, call Black and Decker anyways - if the BL5000 was manufactured between Dec.2003 and Jan.2005 (highly possible if it was marked on clearance), the blade assemblies were recalled. here is the recall notice:
http://www.blackanddeckerappliances.net/safetyrecall2.html

If it is out of warranty, let the blender cool for an hour. Then remove the blender jar, plug in the base, and see if it will spin with nothing attached to it. See if it smokes if left on for 1 full minute - don't let it run longer than one minute.

If it doesn't smoke, let it cool for an additional 20 minutes. Then remove and then reassemble the blade assembly, gasket, etc., collar, jar, etc. Try blending. If it smokes while blending, order a new blade assembly and gasket (usually they come packaged together - around $20 or so). Once the new blade assembly/gasket arrives, try blending again. If it doesn't smoke, you're probably good to go. If it does smoke, you have a more serious issue.

All of this is going to take time and money if it is out-of-warranty. If you have deemed that the blender is worth more than $50 for a new one, let me know.

Leaking blender

Mine also leaked from day 1. I just read in the manual to first place the bottom and blade assembly on the counter, then seat the gasket around the blade assembly, making sure it is just under the lip of the blade piece (careful, you have to maneuver around the blades). Then place the jar on the assembly and screw in tightly. This worked and I have no more leaks.
This is different than other blenders where you place the gasket on the jar and then attach the bottom. It is a poor design, but after what I paid for it, I am glad to be able to use it and not just trash it.

Waring blender - new blade

I just figured it out. The key is you need to think in terms of keeping the blades and the large washers separate. Here's what you do.
Thread the blade through the glass and use the white rubber gaskets against the glass and the stainless gaskets against the hardware. Then tighten the whole enchilada to the blender with the main nut (that goes on the bottom outside of the blender). Then once that's nice and tight tighten the flange that catches the blender teeth to the remaining portion of the protruding threads. Make sure you use the copper colored gasket first then the stainless washer then the stainless flange. Tighten that real good and you should be good to go.
To check if you've done it right spin the flange. If the blades spin independent of everything else you're good to blend away!
