Had the same problem, i just replaced the black ink cartridge which was finishing at that time and resetted the counters. No problems after that. Not sure whether this will help though.
SOURCE: How can I dismantling printer Canon iP4300?
Hello,
I just opened mine tonight after finally finding a picture of where the front tabs are!
On the back you will see slots with arrows, take a flathead and push it in the slot and push downward on the screwdriver.
Then pull the paper tray out and look here for the tabs on the front.

I wouldn't recommend dismantling farther than this as this is pretty delicate stuff.
But you can clean your waste pads out where the head parks and make sure they are firmly in position. You can also do a general cleaning I suppose.
Big thanks to RossfroMoz for posting a link to these pics which really really helped.

SOURCE: I am having problems locating the front
There are two tabs on the front. They are nothing like the other four and there are no arrows to indicate where they are.
Turn the computer up on its back so you can access the front tabs from underneath.
Get a good flashlight and look up the deep, rectangular recesses so you can see which two have the little plastic piece holding the case down. With a normal screwdriver, push the little tabs toward the sides. If the other four tabs have already been popped, the whole case will pull away easily.
